The word on the street is that today is National Bobblehead Day!
With countless Brewers bobbleheads given away to fans at games over the years and 10 more All-Fan Bobblehead Giveaway dates scheduled for 2015, it only seemed natural that we celebrate by posting a few photos/videos on our social media platforms.
MLB and other teams across the league took the opportunity to do the same:

It also is fitting that we have a vintage bobblehead collector in residence, Brewers Vice President-Controller Joe Zidanic.
Walking through the Brewers offices, you won’t find a single cubicle or office void of a bobblehead and many staffers, especially if they have been here many years, have quite the collections.
Joe’s, however, is unique.
He began collecting these bobbleheads in the 1970s and 80s. A couple of them even date back to before he was born, when his dad started the collection.
As a boy, he remembers going to Municipal Stadium in Cleveland (where he grew up) and purchasing the bobbleheads there with his dad. They weren’t giveaways to fans back then, but they had an area where people could purchase bobbleheads of various teams.
Joe’s collection includes all NFL Teams and all MLB Teams, although of course there are a few exceptions. For example, he has a Montreal Expos bobblehead in place of a Washington Nationals one. Similarly, the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays bobbles are now outdated.
As far as football goes, for newer teams like the Seahawks, he has a plastic version of the Kewpie-esque faced dolls, because they simply don’t make ’em like they used to.
He’s only got doubles of one team. Ironically, he notes, that’s the Twins:
Here’s a closeup of the NL Central bobbles:
You may recognize the Brewers bobble in the center. We’ve used him (along with opponent bobbles) in social posts promoting upcoming match-ups in the past:
He was also the inspiration for last year’s popular Vintage Brewers Bobblehead Giveaway:
In 2015, we’ll be giving out another Vintage Brewers Bobble, but this one will be a retro version:
I think Joe’s bobbleheads are very cool and unique. Yes, it’s awesome to get one representing a mascot or player (my favorite so far has been the Carlos Gomez Gold Glove bobblehead, where he is leaping over the wall), but there is just something special about these throwback ones, too.
I’m grateful to Joe for sharing his collection with me; it is obvious that he enjoys collecting them and takes great pride in showing them off. He also wanted me to be sure to share a photo of his latest acquisition–a new Packers one:
Do you have a great bobblehead collection? What is your favorite bobble? Tweet them at @Brewers using #NationalBobbleheadDay and I’ll compile a gallery of the best submissions.

The third bobblehead of the 2014 season will come on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, as the Brewers take on the Cincinnati Reds. The bobble will be a Vintage Brewer bobblehead.
Bobblehead fanatics, especially those who have an original Brewers bobblehead in their collection, will go wild for this Vintage Brewer bobblehead!
Created as a throwback to the bobbles of yore when most bobbles were created with the same Kewpie-esque face, the Vintage Brewer bobble will be similar to this original bobble, pictured in the graphic below:
If you don’t win, don’t worry. Individual tickets will go on sale in spring. However, if you’d like to secure your tickets for this game early, the Vintage Brewer bobblehead is included in the following ticket packages which are on sale now:
Be sure to check back in the coming months as we also unveil the image of the actual bobblehead when we get it!
