Miller Park Bloody Marys
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
Let me start off by getting this out of the way: I
like love am mildly obsessed with Bloody Marys. They are my drink of choice. Whether it’s 10am or 10pm, there is no bad time for a Bloody, in my opinion. I like my Bloody Marys spicy with a variety of fixin’s and I even consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur, trying them at varying restaurants and rating them on my own scale. I have my own personal Bloody Mary blog. I make it a point to attend the Tomato Romp on Milwaukee’s East Side each year; I have made a pilgrimage to the place where the Bloody Mary was purportedly invented (King Cole Bar in the St. Regis Hotel in New York City); and I have even made Bloody Mary-inspired recipes like a Bloody Mary salad or Bloody Mary burgers, which shows you how much I just crave that taste. I guess it helps that tomatoes are my favorite food to begin with.
Anyway, needless to say, I have my favorite spots to get a Bloody around the city. Thus, this is why you shouldn’t take this lightly when I say– without bias– that Miller Park is one of them.
SportService puts their own twist on the Miller Park Bloodys by combining Skyy Vodka and Ocean Spray Bloody Mary Mix, along with some extra spices like worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and celery salt. You can order them mixed to your liking–mild, medium or spicy, although, I’m told spicy is the preference of most Brewers fans. The drinks are then topped off with fixin’s like pickles, olives and, new this year, Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straws.
Yes, you read that right–BEEF STRAWS, a beef stick hollowed out into a glass-to-mouth transportation device.
I came across this genius product on my own about six months ago (they are available at select retail locations). I tweeted about the straws and the next thing I knew, two packages arrived from Benny (Ben Hirko) himself.
A little background on the origin of it, from Benny, via the company’s website:
During my 15+ years in the restaurant/bar business I’ve always loved trying new things to make people smile. One evening while bartending I was chatting with 2 customers. They had brought beef snack sticks with them to enjoy while having a couple of beers. Always hungry, I asked for one. While snacking on the stick, I thought to myself these would taste fantastic in a bloody mary! I began thinking of the best way to use it, and immediately thought it should be a straw instead of just a stick. As a straw, the bloody mary would be able to soak into the beef and be a juicy snack all the way through. Armed with this new idea, I started making them at home for my friends and family. Everyone loved them, and after some research I thought I should make these available for everyone. I hope my idea can add a bit of fun, and great taste to your bloody marys for years to come.
After receiving the straws, I was anxious to make myself a bloody and let me tell you… It took me back to the days of my youth, using a Twizzlers to drink soda and add a bit of cherry flavor. In a more grown-up version, Benny’s straws absorbed the Bloody Mary goodness from the inside out as well as the outside in.
That’s why I was so very excited to hear that we’d be using Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straws in all of our Bloodys at Miller Park this season, becoming the first MLB Ballpark to do so.
I’m hoping you’ll enjoy the straws just as much as I have, especially in the Miller Park Bloody Mary.

Where To Satisfy Your Craving: Fans can find the Miller Park Bloody Mary on the Field Level on two carts near the Home Plate Gate and on a cart near Section 117; they are also available on the Loge Level, near the Press Box and in the right-field corner.
NOTE: On Sundays, you can find a Build-Your-Own U-Skew Bloody Mary station near the Home Plate Bar on the PNC Club Level. Those are $12 each, made with Jimmy Luv’s mix, and include all the fixin’s you can fit on a skewer. Choose from options such as: celery, asparagus, sausage, cheese, mushrooms, hard boiled eggs, olives, pickles, cherry tomatoes and more.
