Greetings from Portland, Oregon where I’m here with some of my colleagues attending the National Sports Forum (NSF).
Today I am pleased to share that the Brewers were selected as the recipient of the 2016 National Sports Forum ADchievement Overall Award of Excellence. The announcement was made this during the NSF awards ceremony this morning. This marks the fifth consecutive season that the Brewers have received this award.
“We are incredibly proud to bring home the ADchievement Overall Award of Excellence for the fifth straight year,” said Teddy Werner, Brewers vice president – marketing and business development. “We faced very stiff competition and I would like to congratulate our entire marketing team for their passion, creativity and commitment to make us the best in the industry.”
The NSF ADchievement Awards recognize the year’s most outstanding advertising campaigns in sports. The competition brings in hundreds of submissions from the top teams, agencies, leagues and collegiate athletics across the industry.
2/17/16 Update: At last night’s closing ceremonies of the National Sports Forum, the winner of this year’s SAMMY Award (Sales, Advertising, Marketing or Management Idea of the Year) was announced and I’m pleased to share that we were the winners of that award, too. This is the second time that we won the SAMMY and this year’s award was for our Timeless Ticket idea. Kathy Schwab, our Senior Director of Marketing, had presented the idea in a session earlier that day and accepted the award on our behalf:
The competition was fierce and, as we’re headed back from Portland today with the two awards in tow, I feel so very honored to be a part of this special group of very talented people.
The National Sports Forum is the largest annual cross gathering of the top sports marketing, sales, promotions and event entertainment executives from throughout the broad spectrum of teams and leagues, (i.e. MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, Minor Leagues, Racing, Colleges, etc.) in North America.
Brewers Received National Sports Forum ADchievement Overall Award of Advertising Excellence for Third Year in a Row
I’ve been spending the last couple of days in Dallas, Texas at the National Sports Forum (NSF), the largest annual cross gathering of team sports marketing, sales, promotions and event entertainment executives – from throughout the broad spectrum of teams and leagues, (i.e. NFL, MLB, MLS, NBA, NHL, Minor Leagues, Racing, Colleges, etc.), in North America.
I’ve attended this conference for six years now and it is one of my favorites. It’ s always great to reconnect with counterparts from other teams and leagues and share ideas and best practices.
As part of the conference, the NSF also hosts the ADchievement Awards, which recognize the year’s most outstanding advertising campaigns in sports across eight categories. The competition brings in hundreds of submissions from the top teams, agencies, leagues and collegiate athletics across the industry. And, today, I am proud to share that the Brewers were selected as the recipient of the 2014 National Sports Forum ADchievement Overall Award of Excellence, marking the third consecutive season that the Brewers have received this award. In addition to the NSF ADchievement Overall Award of Excellence, the Milwaukee Brewers and Brewers Community Foundation were finalists in seven of eight categories, winning two of those categories: Best Social/Mobile Media for our 2013 10-Packs/Countdown to Opening Day (#SeeUApril1) campaign (which also won a Gold award at the 2013 PromaxBDA Sports Media Marketing Awards in New York City last November), and Best In-Stadium/In Arena for the two-minute film capturing the Milwaukee Brewers game day experience that we played in the ballpark at the start of games last season. The #SeeUApril1 campaign was produced by our in-house marketing team. Captivate Digital Cinema, the filmmakers of the 2013 Brewers commercial campaign, worked in conjunction with our marketing team on the film. Captivate Digital Cinema, the filmmakers of the 2013 Brewers commercial campaign, worked in conjunction with the Brewers’ marketing team on the in-stadium film. Brewers Community Foundation works in partnership with 2-Story to develop its campaign efforts.
There is a tremendous amount of talent in all of the submissions we see each year at the ADchievement Awards and we’re honored to be in such great company. Kudos to our entire marketing team! The NSF wraps up tonight in Dallas; a huge thank you to the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and Stars for hosting us–it’s been tremendous as always.
