Rainbow Loom Night at Miller Park

Hundreds of youngsters and their families came out to Miller Park tonight to take part in a special event pertaining to the 2014 Toy of the Year, the Rainbow Loom.

In case you’re not aware, Rainbow Looms are plastic toy looms used to weave colorful rubber bands into bracelets and charms. Rainbow Looms have become quite the phenomenon among children, roughly ages 8-14.

It’s a popular pastime in summer camps and the like and children make and swap their rubber-band bracelets much the same way I did with “friendship bracelets” as a kid.

The Rainbow Loom has become somewhat of a pop culture icon, as Jimmy Kimmel featured a #SuitOfTheLoom on his show back in February:

The Rainbow Loom was invented in 2011 by Cheong Choon Ng of Novi, Michigan and we were pleased to have him here at the ballpark tonight to  highlight the evolution of the loom, unveil a new finger loom, and sign autographs.

Rainbow Loom staff and Learning Express Toys were also onsite to teach new bracelet designs.

Plus, all children were able to create their own Monster Tail Rainbow Loom with Brewers-color rubber bands and the first 500 children received a special Hank charm.

Brewed for Her Night Set for July 26

If you’re still looking for that perfect Mother’s Day gift, you’re in luck!

Back by popular demand, the Brewers “Brewed For Her” event went on sale this morning.

[CLICK HERE TO READ MY RECAP OF LAST YEAR'S EVENT.]

On Saturday, July 26, during the Brewers vs. Mets game, we’ll be hosting the second  “Brewed For Her” event in the Gehl Club at Miller Park, an event geared toward women showcasing multiple products that are sold in the Brewers Team Stores, along with fashion tips, and interactive beauty stations highlighting new Brewers hair and nail accessories.

The event will begin two hours before gates open that day (2:30pm) so that attendees have time to shop the stores and visit vendor booths set up by the Brewers Team Store on the Club Level before the game begins. Various vendors, fashion experts, and beauticians will be on hand during the event to offer advice, give demonstrations and offer product information.

Attendees will also be able to purchase items in the Gehl Club that day (with some items at a 20% savings!) and those who purchase the new Brewers hair and nail accessories will also have the opportunity to have the beauticians style their hair and nails with them on the spot.

“We received such great feedback from last year’s event that we decided to bring it back for the 2014 season and make it even better. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the new Brewers gear and accessories and for fans to get ideas on how to show their team support not just at the game, but also out on the town,” said Jill Aronoff, Senior Director Merchandise Branding.

Brewed for Her is $98per ticket and includes:

  • Early entry into Miller Park
  • Your Brewers vs. Mets ticket in the upscale Gehl Club at Miller Park, which includes an all- you-can-eat buffet and two complementary beverages
  • Access to vendor booths and product displays at the Brewers Team Store on the Club Level
  • Demonstrations by beauticians
  • Fashion tips from experts
  • Ability to purchase merchandise that evening from the Gehl Club (some at a 20% savings!)
  • A special Brewed for Her gift bag

I’m planning to attend this event again and look forward to talking with many of the attendees as well as grabbing photos to feature here on the blog–I hope to see you there!

Tickets are on sale now at brewers.com/brewedforher or by phone at (414) 902-GAME (4263). You’ll want to hurry as tickets for this event are limited!

Brewers #INSTAGRAMMA Contest Launched in Time for Grandparents Day!

This Sunday, September 9 is Grandparents Day and we’re celebrating with a fun Instagram contest!

How to Enter: Create an original photo of you or your child with your/their grandma or grandpa (or someone who is like a grandparent to you/them) together wearing Brewers gear and/or at Miller Park. Or, grandparents, take a photo with your grandchild! Tag it on Instagram using hashtag #InstaGRAMMA for a chance to win a set of four tickets to the game of your choice during Fan Appreciation Weekend (September 28-30).

We launched this contest on Tuesday and we’ll be accepting entries through Tuesday, September 18, giving you plenty of time to take some fun new photos and even come out to Miller Park next week when the Crew returns home to face the Braves and Mets to take some here. For more information and complete rules, please visit brewers.com/instagramma.

#INSTAGRAMMA #BREWERS

The photos that we’ve seen come in so far are awesome, so keep them coming! We’ll chose three winners in this contest.

For those unfamiliar, Instagram is a free, fast and fun way to share photos using most Apple or Android products.

You can follow us on Instagram @Brewers.

Here’s the type of photo you can expect to see from us on Instagram!

For those without Instagram, you can still view our photos, by visiting  brewers.com/instagram.

My own grandparents are no longer with us, but they were all big Brewers fans of course (even the ones from Chicago–I converted them!), but my maternal grandmother was an especially avid fan. (She even once had a bird named J.J. after former Brewers player J.J. Hardy!) So in honor of Grandparents Day and this contest, I thought I would share a photo of her on Instagram, taken at Miller Park when I celebrated Mother’s Day with her, my aunt and my mom at Miller Park a few years ago.

Looking back now, I definitely wish I would have gotten one of the two of us together, so this weekend while you’re celebrating Grandparents Day, make sure to give the Grandparents a hug, take some great photos and share them with us!
