Since 1975, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Councils have been providing scholarships to Hispanic students in the Milwaukee community. LULAC offers a variety of scholarships for high school seniors, undergraduate & graduate college students. Last year, former Brewers outfielder, Carlos Gomez partnered with LULAC to create the Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship Fund to provide more scholarships to Hispanic students who are interested in attending college in Wisconsin.
Prior to tonight’s game, we recognized the Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship recipients: Alejandra Hernandez, Claudia Leon Guerrero, Isaura Leon Guerrero, Laura Leon Guerrero, Salena Martinez, Araceli Najera, Sayra Navarro Villegas, Abraham Pacheco, Karla Perez, Adriana Rodriguez, Ivonne Rosado, Maria Serna and Rosibel Solis Gomez.

Last year, Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez partnered with LULAC to create the Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship Fund to provide more scholarships to Hispanic students who are interested in attending college in Wisconsin.
Today, Carlos and Dr. Arturo Martinez, LULAC State Director, Member Council 333, were on hand to present a $4,000 check to Christine McGee, Executive Director of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation. The foundation will match that amount to provide scholarships for Hispanic students who will be attending MATC this fall.

Tonight, we were pleased to welcome 16 Wisconsin students who will be attending college this fall with the help of the Brewers Community Foundation Scholarship Programs.
Four programs are currently offered through Brewers Community Foundation: The Allan H. Selig Scholarship, named in honor of MLB Commissioner Bud Selig; The Michael J. Bonan Scholarship; the Miller Park Community Scholarship Program; and the Player Scholarship Fund which this year was supported by Ryan Braun.
Since the scholarship program began in 2003, 116 students have received scholarships from Brewers Community Foundation Scholarship programs. Tonight, we added sixteen more.
