Our Dog Has His Day: Wisconsin Humane Society Day at Miller Park

It’s Wisconsin Humane Society Day here at Miller Park, all thanks to Hank, the famous Ballpark Pup who first appeared at Brewers Spring Training camp on February 17, the day of the first workout for pitchers and catchers.

Since that day when he immediately captured the hearts of everyone at Maryvale Baseball Park, as well as pet-lovers across the world, we have worked closely with the Wisconsin Humane Society on both the care for and events involving Hank, raising awareness and funds for the organization along the way.

We are pleased to honor this great organization by hosting many special festivities at the ballpark.

Tonight, all fans in attendance at the game received a “BobbleHank,” in partnership with West Bend Mutual Insurance, and a portion of the proceeds from tickets sales for the game were donated to the Wisconsin Humane Society’s “Hank Fund,” a pool that benefits stray animals in their care transferred from the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, as well as stray animals at the WHS Ozaukee and Racine Campuses. Brewers players have stepped forward and contributed to the fund as well.

Hank Bobble

Then, Brewers Community Foundation presented a $130,000 check to the Wisconsin Humane Society in an on-field, pre-game ceremony featuring Hank, the “Ballpark Pup.” The donation was raised from sales of Hank merchandise items in the Brewers Team Store by Majestic, as well as donations from fans at Hank’s various appearances. Twenty percent of the retail sales from all Hank-related items benefit the Wisconsin Humane Society’s “Hank Fund.”

Hank Check

During the game, the Wisconsin Humane Society as well as the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) each have an information table located on the Field Level Concourse, and the two organizations also have adoptable dogs for fans to visit in the right field corner (also the Field Level Concourse).

During the entire three game series against the Cincinnati Reds, Brewers Community Foundation invites fans to drop off items for animal shelters during the Foundation’s Drive for Charity. Items that will be collected include canned or dry puppy, dog, cat and kitten food; dog and cat toys (no stuffed toys, please); dog and cat treats; dog harnesses; cat litter; towels; and stainless steel food and water bowls.  While supplies last, fans that donate an item or make a $5 contribution will receive a collectible pin featuring, Hank.  Donation tables and bins will be located at the Hot Corner, the Right Field Gate, and next to the Field Level Guest Relations near the Home Plate Gate. They will be available from gate opening through the second inning.

Also, the newest Brewers mascot, a Hank-themed “walkabout,” made its debut. The mascot is mingling with fans on the concourses tonight and will be at future Brewers home games.

In addition, the Brewers Team Store introduced the latest Hank item: a Hank watch from Modify Watches. Modify Watches are fun and colorful timepieces featuring mix-and-match faces and straps. Custom combinations mean you can build the perfect “Mods” to match your style, fit your mood and support the Crew.

Earlier this week, we also announced that a new children’s book, “Hank, The Ballpark Pup” will be released on Thursday at the Brewers Team Store.

Thanks to all 45, 205 of you who came out for Wisconsin Humane Society Day at Miller Park!

We’re happy that Hank’s story can brighten everyone’s day, and also greatly benefit other animals who are stray, homeless or have other needs along the way.

Brewed for Her Event in Full Swing

Today, prior to and during the Brewers vs. Mets game, we are hosting a special “Brewed For Her” event in the Gehl Club at Miller Park, an event geared toward women showcasing multiple products that are sold in the Brewers Team Stores, along with fashion tips, and interactive beauty stations highlighting new Brewers hair and nail accessories.

The event began at 2:30 p.m.today, 2 hours  before gates opened to the general public. This allowed attendees to time to shop the stores, visit vendor booths, and take part in additional activities before the game began. Over 30 vendors participated in this event and attendees received a special 20% savings on merchandise purchased during the event.

Gone are the days of wearing men’s t-shirts to games and ill-fitting tank tops. The Brewers Team Store is chock-full of a variety of gear to suit any woman’s taste and almost any occasion such as attending a game, working out, or just being a weekend warrior.

Here are a just a few photos of some of the offerings on display at Brewed for Her:

And, speaking of the Brewers Wives, did you know they have their own line of clothing from Majestic Threads, made with Swarovski rhinestones. A portion of the proceeds from these items goes to the Brewers Community Foundation.

Hank the Ballpark Pup was also on hand for a special meet and greet with the fans.

In addition, attendees could enjoy a beer and wine tasting and beauticians were on hand during the event to offer advice and give demonstrations–the station to have your nails painted and/or hair styled with purchased Brewers accessories was very popular.

Attendees also received a Brewers vs. Mets game ticket in the upscale Gehl Club at Miller Park, which included Hors d’oeuvres such as Roasted Chicken Crisps and Caprese Skewers; an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring a special menu that included Shrimp Scampi, a variety of salads and main courses of Prime Strip Loin, Chicken Stir Fry and Lamb Osso Buco; and two complimentary beverages.

Each attendee also left with a special Brewed for Her swag bag containing a variety of items; items varied in each bag, but  here’s a sample:

Kudos to Jill Aronoff, Chris Barlow and all of the staff that helped bring this event together. This was  the second year of the event and they really set the bar high for any events like this in the future!

All-Fan Hank Beach Towel Day Announced

With the September 13 “BobbleHank” game now limited to single seats and standing room only tickets, fans of Hank, “The Ballpark Pup,” can still get in on the fun as today we announced another promotion celebrating the team’s famous four-legger.

On Wednesday, August 6, all fans attending the Brewers versus Giants game at 7:10 pm will receive a full-size Hank Beach Towel, compliments of Meijer.

Hank Beach Towel Brewers

In addition, Hank (and his Hank House) will be available for a photo opportunity with the first 500 fans in line beginning when gates open that night (90 minutes before first pitch). The photo opportunity will take place on the Field Level concourse near the Right Field Gate entrance.

“Based on the fan response, the BobbleHank giveaway was easily one of our most popular promotions ever, and when the game quickly reached standing room only status, there were a lot of fans who were disappointed,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger. “We expect that the Beach Towel giveaway will be just as popular, and with Hank appearing at both of these games, it promises to be a fun evening at Miller Park for everyone.”

Tickets for the Hank Beach Towel night and all remaining Brewers games are on sale at the Miller Park Box Office, through brewers.com, or by phone at (414-902-4000).

Hank the #BallparkPup to Make Meet & Greet Appearance at Next Tuesday’s Game

By popular demand, America’s favorite Ballpark Pup is making an encore appearance at Miller Park.

After meeting more than 700 fans for photos in a public appearance during the May 14 game, Hank, the Ballpark Pup, returns to the stage on Tuesday, June 24 as the Brewers take on the Washington Nationals at 7:10 pm.

Hank has quietly appeared at several games this year, but he has only made two public appearances at Miller Park since arriving in Milwaukee in March.

Hank’s return will come in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Brewers vs. Nationals game. For one inning, he will appear on the Field Level Concourse in the right field corner. Fans are welcome to visit and take photos of Milwaukee’s most famous pup with his very own “Hank House.”

Fans will have an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society during Hank’s appearance.

6/24 Update: Hundreds of fans lined up to see Hank tonight, it seems he is just as “pup”ular as ever!
