Carlos Gomez Gold Glove Presentation Set for Saturday

Carlos Gomez, the winner of the 2013 Rawlings Gold Glove Award among National League center fielders, will be presented with his Rawlings Gold Glove Award in a pregame ceremony this Saturday at Miller Park.  The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. prior to the Brewers vs. Pirates game (and-Bonus!-it’s part of the 5-County, 5-Day Celebration).

Gomez won the 10th Gold Glove Award in franchise history and became the fifth different Brewer to earn the honor, joining George Scott (first base: 1972-76), Cecil Cooper (first base: 1979-80), Sixto Lezcano (outfield: 1979) and Robin Yount (shortstop: 1982).  The Brewers had gone 30 seasons without a Gold Glove winner, which was the longest streak in the 57-year history of the award.

Gomez recorded a career-high 12 assists last season, which trailed only the Mets’ Juan Lagares (14) for the Major League lead among center fielders.  He also made five home run-saving catches and did not commit an error over his last 32 games.

We will also be honoring this feat later this month, on Sunday, April 27 with the Carlos Gomez Gold Glove Bobblehead.

Kyle Lohse Bobblehead Revealed

As we get images of the bobbles, we’ll unveil them here and across our social media channels.

So far, we’ve revealed the first bobblehead of the season, the Carlos Gomez Gold Glove bobblehead on Sunday, April 27 vs. the Chicago Cubs.

Now, we’ve got the second bobblehead here for you–the Kyle Lohse bobblehead, presented by Toyota, on Sunday, May 11 vs. the New York Yankees.

The bobblehead is posed in his windup and features Lohse’s signature goatee.

I caught up with Kyle to get his thoughts on the bobblehead. “It looks pretty cool,” he said…  and then he informed me that he’s never had a bobblehead before. I was incredulous. This is a World Series Champion who was drafted in 1996,  made his Major League debut in 2001, has played in six Major League organizations…and he’s never been immortalized in bobble form?!?

“I guess I finally made it,” he said with a smile.

Individual tickets  are on sale now and the May 11 game is sure to be a hot ticket. Not only is it Kyle Lohse Bobblehead Day, but it is also Mother’s Day, plus we’re playing the Yankees and it’s Brewers fans last chance to see Derek Jeter play at Miller Park before he retires.

In short, you’ll want to visit brewers.com or call (414) 902-4000 to secure yours today!

Brewers Marketing Department Implores Lapsed Season Seat Holders to “Fall in Glove” This Season

The Brewers marketing department has come up with a fun, unique (and topical) campaign to help entice lapsed Brewers Season Seat Holders to renew their tickets for the 2014 season.

Last week, just in time for Valentine’s Day, select accounts received a small package containing a special gold baseball, along with a card from Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez, tying in to Valentine’s Day and playing upon Carlos’ Gold Glove winning season in 2013.

So far, the response has been great.

Take a look at some of the photos of the package below:

Sunday, April 21: George Scott Bobblehead Day

The second bobblehead of the 2013 season will come on Sunday, April 21 as the Crew takes on the Chicago Cubs. The bobblehead will feature Brewers alum & All-Star, George Scott.

The former first baseman played for the Brewers from 1972-1976 and won the Gold Glove Award all five years in a row during his time in Milwaukee. George also won the award in 1967, 1968 and 1971 during his time with the Boston Red Sox.

Hence, his bobblehead will feature George in a Brewers uniform with his five Gold Gloves.

Over his 14-season career, George, who was known as “Boomer,” played in the American League for the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees. He posted a .268 batting average with 271 home runs (which he called “taters,” coining the term), and 1051 RBI in 2034 games.

Speaking of Gold Gloves, two Brewers players were yesterday named finalists for the 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Left fielder Ryan Braun and third baseman Aramis Ramirez were one of three finalists for the Gold Glove at their respective positions.  The awards will be announced tonight on a special edition of ESPN Baseball Tonight at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Tune in tonight to see if Braun and Ramirez will join Scott to make Brewers Gold Glove history.

Individual tickets will go on sale in February, but if you’d like to secure your tickets for this game early, the George Scott bobble is included in the following ticket packages:
