Brewers Players & Front Office Staff Surprise Fans as Part of #BrewersFansFirst

Brewers players and Front Office staff headed out on the concourse before tonight’s game armed with autographed baseballs, ticket upgrades, ticket vouchers for future games, food & beverage vouchers, Kids Club kits, merchandise and more–with the intent of giving it all away to Brewers fans, no strings attached.

This was no April Fools’ Day joke, instead it was part of our Brewers Fans First program. Tonight was just a fun way to kick off the 2014 season, by surprising fans and thanking them for their support.

Yovani Gallardo and Marco Estrada surprised fans on the concourse with autographed baseballs, concession vouchers and more.

Your 2014 Brewers Walk-Up & Entrance Music

If you were at any of the Exhibition Games this weekend, along with taking in the new changes around the ballpark, you might have found yourself taking in some new music as well, especially as our players walked up to the plate, or our pitchers entered the games.

For players, this is often an important decision. What brief part of a song is going to send a message to the fans—and what do I want that message to be? Do I keep the same song that I had last year? What’s the hit that is going to produce the most hits? Is it a superstitious thing, do I want fans to sing along, or do I just use my favorite song right now?

And, it’s a big deal because sometimes, fans might not remember your exact career batting average or ERA with the team, but they just might remember your at-bat song.

Take these blasts from the past, for instance, which were very distinctive and will probably always stick out–in my mind, at least–as being associated with a certain player at a certain time: Tyler Houston using Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out” (2001);  Frank Catalanotto and Mark Kotsay using The Outfield’s “Your Love” (2009; 2011—“Josie’s on a vacation far away….”); or Brooks Kieschnick entering the game to George Strait’s “Cowboys Like Us” (2004).

So, if you’re like me and you’re attuned to the tunes, you’ll probably enjoy seeing this list—and updating your iPod playlists accordingly.

“Fetcher” Reports to Spring Training; Tries to Walk On As Member of 2014 Brewers

Bernie, watch your back.

Move over, Brat, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog and Chorizo—there’s a new Top Dog in town.

We’re not sure where he came from, but a little stray pup is quickly becoming not just the Brewers unofficial Spring Training mascot, but a valued member of the team.

The pooch, who has since been named Hank (after who else but Hank Aaron?), wandered into Brewers camp two days ago looking a little grubby but ready for play. In no time, this little dog has stolen more hearts than Tommy Harper stole bases in 1969.

A staff member took Hank to the vet where he received his shots and a bath, but this little scrapper’s jersey will never be spotless. His white uniform looks to be permanently shaded a little on the gray side in places, but when you get to know this little fella’s personality, you see it’s a perfect fit.

Hank spends each day roaming offices and playing fields, visiting with everyone from Doug Melvin, Ron Roenicke, players and coaches to ticket office and concessions staff. Hank is going home with members of the organization each night to a warm bed, and he recently completed a day at the Team Store where he picked out his favorite styles from the latest Brewers pet gear.

So, what’s the next chapter? Stay tuned. Hank is in good hands and we’ll keep you posted on our most devoted “tail”-gater in the coming days.

For more updates from Brewers Spring Training in Phoenix, Arizona, be sure to follow the #CactusCrew hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

2/20/14 “#BallparkPup”date:

After our posts yesterday, Hank has become a dog in demand! He spent the morning in the Clubhouse and did three TV interviews. He also took to the field for practice with his mentor, Yovani Gallardo.

Also, many of you are asking what is going to happen to Hank after Spring Training. Rest assured, Hank’s days as a stray are over, one way or another and he’ll continue to be well taken care of.

Here are some more photos from earlier today (How fitting is it that it’s “National Love Your Pet Day“?):

Thank You, Brewers Fans!

It’s true, Brewers fans really are the best fans in all of baseball.

Thank you so much for coming out to Miller Park and showing your support this season.

In case you missed it, here is a video that was played last weekend during the Brewers vs. Cardinals games at Miller Park. Perhaps you spot yourself in here somewhere?

In addition, several of our players have special messages for you as well:
