Pretty Muddy, a national women’s only 5k obstacle course mud run, will be partnering with Milwaukee Brewers and Susan G. Komen Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate for its upcoming event to be held here at Miller Park on August 2. (And I’ve got an exclusive coupon code for you–read on.)
Pretty Muddy is a 5k adventurous obstacle course mud run for any woman who wants to get outside, spend time with friends, and have fun. The event includes 9-12 architecturally safe obstacles, tons of mud, and ends with a pretty epic finish line party. For our August 2 event, part of the course will actually allow all participants to run/walk through the inside of the park and around the field.
The event expects to host over 5,000 participants and women of ALL fitness levels are encouraged to join teams, create costumes, and prepare themselves for 3 miles of achievement followed by entertainment, music, drinks, and a “Pretty Awesome” celebration.
Pretty Muddy hopes to raise thousands of dollars for the Komen Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate and kicked off its partnership by offering $17,500 in free registrations to breast cancer survivors.
“We are extremely excited to be partnering with the Brewers and Susan G. Komen to bring our event to Southeastern Wisconsin. It will surely be our biggest and best event since our inception three years ago”, says Kevin Scharnek.
“We are thankful for Pretty Muddy joining us in the fight against breast cancer and helping to ensure that Southeast Wisconsin residents have access to life-saving breast health services,” said Nikki Panico, Executive Director of Komen Southeast Wisconsin. “We think Pretty Muddy is the perfect event for Survivors to unite, celebrate, and enjoy a day to let loose and have some fun”.
I participated in another women’s only mud run/obstacle course about two years ago with a group of friends and I have to say, we had a blast:
And it would have been even more fun if it had been held at Miller Park. I’m definitely looking forward to the Pretty Muddy event here in August and, if our schedule allows, getting the girls back together for another round!
This truly is an event for women of all ages and activity levels. Some folks train intensely, while some roll out of bed and head to the race. You get out of it what you put into it, plus everyone has a good time and laughs– a lot.
With Pretty Muddy’s tie to Komen, not only will you be getting in some fitness and having fun, you’ll also be helping others at the same time.
“Our partnership with the Brewers and Komen falls perfectly in line with why we originally started Pretty Muddy,” says Kevin Scharnek, Pretty Muddy’s managing founder. “We created Pretty Muddy because we were inspired by the women in our lives that do so much for so many and we wanted to give a little bit back.”
