The Plaza Grill
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
The Plaza Grill is located on the Field Level near section 110 in an outdoor seating area called The Plaza Pavillion. The Grill features a number of great, made-to-order items served hot off the grill. There are plenty of picnic tables to enjoy your meal and even a tented area in case the sun is a little too intense.
Milwaukee’s Best Steak Sandwich $10.50
Served on a rustic roll, this seared steak is doused with sharp and hoppy beer cheese and served with a sautee of sweet peppers. The famous and delicious house made chips go with the sandwich.
“The Beast” $9.00
This is truly a unique item that one would find only in Milwaukee. The Beast is a grilled bratwurst sliced in half and stuffed with a grilled hot dog. Those two items are then wrapped in bacon and grilled to perfection. Served with sauerkraut and grilled onions on–of course–a pretzel roll. House made chips and a pickle are also served on the side.
Homestand Special – Zesty Asian Glazed Chicken Chop $9.00
This item was available for the last homestand and will most likely make a return for the upcoming homestand at Miller Park. A bone in chicken chop with a sweet and sour Asian glaze served with Asian Slaw.
Cait: John and I tasted these sandwiches on a beautiful, sunny day out on the Plaza. You could smell the meat cooking on the grill and for a moment, it almost felt like summer (which, I am assured, is eventually coming this year).
We were met with a smorgasbord– these three amazing sandwiches. Of these, my favorite was “The Beast,” almost a novelty but oh, so much more. It’s like the Milwaukee version of Turducken, a dish consisting of a de-boned chicken stuffed into a de-boned duck, which is in turn stuffed into a de-boned turkey: a hot dog, stuffed in a brat, wrapped in bacon (on a pretzel bun nonetheless). However, there is NO WAY I could eat an entire one by myself. It’s a lot of food. I suggest splitting it with a friend of three!
The other two sandwiches were also very good, you just can’t go wrong on the Plaza Grill!
John: The Plaza Grill is definitely a hidden gem at Miller Park. It is a great place to socialize and enjoy a fantastic meal before any Brewers game at Miller Park. For night games, you can enjoy the late afternoon sun on the patio picnic tables. As for the food, the “Milwaukee’s Best” steak sandwich was definitely my favorite. t came fresh off the grill (the entire stand is made to order, which is great) and was the perfect amount of food. he chicken chop had a great flavor as well. The sweet and sour glaze was something different and pairs perfectly with the chicken. “The Beast” is definitely a novelty item, but worth a shot. It is unlike anything I have ever tried (or even imagined), but Chef John and his crew always seem to be pushing the envelope with what they can get away with and this is certainly no exception!

Where To Satisfy Your Craving: The Plaza Grill is located down the right field line on the Field Level just beyond Section 110. The area has picnic tables and high top tables for enjoying along with a tented area as well. Keep in mind that parts of the Plaza Pavilion allow smoking.

Bernie’s Blends Fruit Smoothies
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
Fresh Fruit Smoothie -$5.50
It’s been a cool start to the baseball season in Milwaukee, there is no arguing with that fact. Lately, though, spring is in the air, the temperatures are rising, and nothing sounds more refreshing than a fresh fruit smoothie. Brand new to Miller Park this year, the “Bernie’s Blends” cart is located down the right-field line outside section 112. With four different options to choose from, the options will leave something for every one. We know we often push some outrageous food items here on occasion (Remember the ”Giant Slugger!?”), but it is good to know that there really is something for everyone to enjoy at Miller Park.
To start, choose a yogurt base or a frozen orange juice base. The fruit options include either a mixed berry blend that includes frozen strawberries, raspberries and blueberries or a strawberry-banana blend. The smoothie is blended fresh while you wait and is served in a 16 ounce cup.
Cait: I love smoothies, so this is a welcome addition to the selection at Miller Park; undoubtedly, these will be a hit during the hot summer months. I gravitated toward the mixed berry & yogurt combination and it was delicious. Very creamy and smooth and I liked that I felt like I was making a healthy choice. I highly recommend that you check out Bernie’s Blends next time you’re at the ballpark on a warm summer day.
John: Often at home, I throw all sorts of fruit in the blender and see what happens. I find the fresh fruit and yogurt blend to be a delicious and refreshing healthy treat and it is great that you can now get one here at the ballpark. If you are ever in the mood for something a little on the healthy side while at a Brewers game, this will definitely do the trick. Perfect consistency and flavor and just the right amount. I started with the yogurt blend and then mixed berries. I will definitely be back to try all the different combinations.

Miller Park Bloody Marys
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
Bloody Mary-$11.25
Let me start off by getting this out of the way: I like love am mildly obsessed with Bloody Marys. They are my drink of choice. Whether it’s 10am or 10pm, there is no bad time for a Bloody, in my opinion. I like my Bloody Marys spicy with a variety of fixin’s and I even consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur, trying them at varying restaurants and rating them on my own scale. I have my own personal Bloody Mary blog. I make it a point to attend the Tomato Romp on Milwaukee’s East Side each year; I have made a pilgrimage to the place where the Bloody Mary was purportedly invented (King Cole Bar in the St. Regis Hotel in New York City); and I have even made Bloody Mary-inspired recipes like a Bloody Mary salad or Bloody Mary burgers, which shows you how much I just crave that taste. I guess it helps that tomatoes are my favorite food to begin with.
Anyway, needless to say, I have my favorite spots to get a Bloody around the city. Thus, this is why you shouldn’t take this lightly when I say– without bias– that Miller Park is one of them.
SportService puts their own twist on the Miller Park Bloodys by combining Skyy Vodka and Ocean Spray Bloody Mary Mix, along with some extra spices like worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and celery salt. You can order them mixed to your liking–mild, medium or spicy, although, I’m told spicy is the preference of most Brewers fans. The drinks are then topped off with fixin’s like pickles, olives and, new this year, Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straws.
Yes, you read that right–BEEF STRAWS, a beef stick hollowed out into a glass-to-mouth transportation device.
I came across this genius product on my own about six months ago (they are available at select retail locations). I tweeted about the straws and the next thing I knew, two packages arrived from Benny (Ben Hirko) himself.
A little background on the origin of it, from Benny, via the company’s website:
During my 15+ years in the restaurant/bar business I’ve always loved trying new things to make people smile. One evening while bartending I was chatting with 2 customers. They had brought beef snack sticks with them to enjoy while having a couple of beers. Always hungry, I asked for one. While snacking on the stick, I thought to myself these would taste fantastic in a bloody mary! I began thinking of the best way to use it, and immediately thought it should be a straw instead of just a stick. As a straw, the bloody mary would be able to soak into the beef and be a juicy snack all the way through. Armed with this new idea, I started making them at home for my friends and family. Everyone loved them, and after some research I thought I should make these available for everyone. I hope my idea can add a bit of fun, and great taste to your bloody marys for years to come.
After receiving the straws, I was anxious to make myself a bloody and let me tell you… It took me back to the days of my youth, using a Twizzlers to drink soda and add a bit of cherry flavor. In a more grown-up version, Benny’s straws absorbed the Bloody Mary goodness from the inside out as well as the outside in.
That’s why I was so very excited to hear that we’d be using Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straws in all of our Bloodys at Miller Park this season, becoming the first MLB Ballpark to do so.
I’m hoping you’ll enjoy the straws just as much as I have, especially in the Miller Park Bloody Mary.
Enjoy and remember to drink responsibly!

Where To Satisfy Your Craving: Fans can find the Miller Park Bloody Mary on the Field Level on two carts near the Home Plate Gate and on a cart near Section 117; they are also available on the Loge Level, near the Press Box and in the right-field corner.
NOTE: On Sundays, you can find a Build-Your-Own U-Skew Bloody Mary station near the Home Plate Bar on the PNC Club Level. Those are $12 each, made with Jimmy Luv’s mix, and include all the fixin’s you can fit on a skewer. Choose from options such as: celery, asparagus, sausage, cheese, mushrooms, hard boiled eggs, olives, pickles, cherry tomatoes and more.

Baked Potatoes
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
This week, we played hot potato, as Chef John treated us to selections from the Baked Potato Stand. Located on each level at Miller Park, the Baked Potato stands boast four different types of potatoes: Bases Loaded, Broccoli Cheese, BBQ Brisket and Chipotle Chicken.
Read on for a description, photos and reviews!
Baked Potatoes-$6.75

John: I walk by this stand probably three to four times a day and I have never stopped to try anything. Baked potatoes might seem like a “side” item or just an extra, but the Chipotle Chicken baked potato was a full meal. It started with a regular baked potato and then was topped with shredded chipotle chicken. The next layer was a scoop of salsa, then cheese and finally sour cream. It ended up looking and tasting like a burrito wrapped around a potato instead of a tortilla. It was a lot of food and at just $6.75, it is probably one of the best bargains at Miller Park. A key to this was that the potato was piping hot and stayed warm for the entire time it took me to eat this.

John tried the Chipotle Chicken potato, made with chipotle chicken, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream and chives.
Cait: The baked potatoes are easily my favorite ballpark meal. Yes, that’s right–while baked potatoes are usually side dish in my household, the ones at Miller Park are no small potatoes. At just $6.75 each, these Idaho potatoes are a bargain. They’re ginormous and, when topped with a protein like the Chipotle Chicken or BBQ Brisket, definitely make a hearty meal, or at least a great snack to share with a friend. The Chipotle Chicken has been my go-to for the past couple of years, so I decided to try this season’s new offering, the BBQ Brisket. As you can see from the photo, this potato includes generous servings of brisket, cheese and sour cream and is drizzled with a special horseradish sour cream on top of that (which is not very spicy, in case you’re wondering). The effect is nothing short of amazing, but I still think that my favorite is the Chipotle Chicken.

Cait tried the BBQ Brisket potato, made with smoked BBQ brisket, shredded cheese, horseradish sour cream, and chives.
There were two baked potatoes that we did not sample for this review: The Bases Loaded, which contains butter, bacon, shredded cheese, sour cream, and chives; and the Broccoli Cheese, which, as the name suggests, is made with melted cheese and broccoli. Chef John tells us the Bases Loaded is the most popular of all of the potato types amongst Brewers fans.

Where To Satisfy Your Craving: These Baked Potatoes can be found at stands located on the Field Level (Section 125), Loge Level (Section 214), Club Level (Section 337) and Terrace Level (Section 431).

Miller Park Bloody Marys

Bloody Mary-$11.00
Have you tried the Bloody Marys at Miller Park? Available on several carts around the ballpark, these tomato-based drinks are especially perfect for days like today–a Sunday afternoon game.
“We experimented with a way to try to make these very unique to the Brewers, like adding in Secret Stadium Sauce, but that just didn’t work out,” said Eric Sampson, Club Level Manager at SportService.
That’s okay though, because SportService still puts their own twist on these drinks by combining Smirnoff Vodka and Ocean Spray Bloody Mary Mix, along with some extra spices like worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and celery salt. You can order them mixed to your liking–mild, medium or spicy, although, we’re told spicy is the preference of most Brewers fans. The drinks are then topped off with fixin’s like olives, cheese, sausage bites, and a pickle.
This season, SportService has experimented with a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, but so far, they have found that it is difficult to offer that option on weekends like this one, with big crowds and two day games in a row. The Home Plate Bar on the PNC Club Level, however, has this option each Sunday with a plethora of fixin’s including: artichoke hearts, garlic, pepperoncinis, mushrooms, cheese, pickles, sausage bites, olives, celery and more.
Cait: Let me start off by getting this out of the way: I like love am mildly obsessed with Bloody Marys. They are my drink of choice. Whether it’s 10am or 10pm, there is no bad time for a Bloody, in my opinion. Anyway, needless to say, I have my favorite spots to get a Bloody around the city. Thus, this is why you shouldn’t take this lightly when I say– without bias– that Miller Park is one of them.
The spicy option has just the right amount of kick and, even if you don’t get to build your own Bloody, the fixin’s that come standard are perfect as well. Cheers!
John: Cait is most definitely the “go to” person when it comes to Bloody Marys. I enjoy a good Bloody Mary here and there, but Cait’s opinion here should be taken a little more seriously than mine. Everyone has a personal preference when it comes to Bloody Marys. My preference is just a little bit of spice and I prefer not to have it loaded with “groceries.” I don’t need everything that can be found in a kitchen tossed in. A couple of olives, maybe a cheese cube (I’m from Wisconsin after all!), a lemon wedge–whatever–just keep it simple with a few garnishes and I’m good.
The Blood Mary carts allow you to choose your preferred level of spiciness. Already off to a good start! The garnishes were simple and didn’t overpower the drink, just the way I like it. A very generous portion will last you a couple of innings and this treat is sure to please. Enjoy and remember to drink responsibly!

This week in What John and Cait Ate:
Fair Fare
During each homestand, we will be meeting with John DiMartini, Executive Chef at Delaware North Sportservice/Miller Park to sample some of the latest and greatest Miller Park fare and review it here, for you.
Here in Wisconsin, we should be very proud because our state fair: The Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular–is indeed a great state fair (and the only state fair around)! It is one of the best in the country, well-known for the excellent entertainment, competitions, and probably most of all, the amazing array of delicious–and oftentimes, unique–food.
Each year, people across the state and even those outside of the state, flock to West Allis to take in the Fair and it’s fare. Well, now you can satisfy some of your cravings just a little bit earlier than August because Sportservice, which also provides a lot of the food service for the fair, has opened a State Fair-inspired food stand at Miller Park.
We’re really excited because, here at the Brewers, we have a wonderful relationship with the Wisconsin State Fair. In fact, our $13 Fair Fridays ticket package [a Terrace ticket to a Friday home game, plus a general admission ticket to the Wisconsin State Fair, good any day of the Fair, August 2-12--for just $13] is among the top sellers year in and year out. Thus, now when fans purchase this package, they’ll get to enjoy Wisconsin State Fair treats at least twice this year!
So, this week, Chef John invited us to sample the variety of deep-fried items (plus margaritas!) from the new 1st Base Fry Bar, in the right-field corner on Field Level.
Read on for a description, photos and reviews!
Gourmet Corn Brat-$6.00
This is just what it sounds like–a corn dog, but instead of a hot dog, Chef John’s crew has deep fried another Wisconsin favorite: a Klement’s brat!
John: Nothing says State Fair like food on a stick! This is definitely not a full meal, but a pretty good snack. Try it with the Secret Stadium Sauce. The corn dogs and corn brats are dipped fresh with batter right at the stand, they are never frozen.
Cait: I cannot remember the last time I had a corn dog, but this corn brat brought back memories of grade school lunches. The brat added a new, unexpected dimension to the flavor and hey, who doesn’t love food on a stick?!

Next up…
Deep Fried Cheesecake- $7.50
John: I really didn’t know what to expect with this one, but I thought it was pretty good. Not to go all gourmet on everyone, but it tasted like a strawberry blintz or a strawberry crepe. I would share this with a friend, it was perfectly sized for two.
Cait: This dessert was definitely rich, to say the least! The cheesecake was warm and melted in my mouth. The effect kind of reminded me of a cannoli, or a crepe as John said. As with most of these items, I’m also going to recommend you share with friends–too rich for for me to eat the entire thing on my own! Chef John tells us they are going to experiment with this treat, trying a deep-friend bananas foster type treat, so stay tuned!

Funnel Fries- $4
John: I can’t visit State Fair without a Funnel Cake, but I always find them messy. You are picking them apart and tearing pieces off here and there. It was almost like eating french toast sticks that I remember as a kid. This made the Funnel Cake experience cleaner and easier to eat. A delicious sweet treat.
Cait: These funnel fries were very sweet and, like the cheesecake, melted in my mouth.

BBQ or Buffalo Boneless Chicken Wings- $9.50
State Fair style boneless chicken wings, served with BBQ or Buffalo sauce, and a side of french fries.
John: You could put Buffalo sauce on pretty much anything and I would enjoy it. At the same time, the BBQ flavored wings were also excellent. These were easy to eat–since they are boneless, you can just use a fork. This could serve as a full meal for one as the order contained plenty of the boneless wings. In addition, the fresh-cut fries completed the plate.
Cait: These wings were probably my favorite item at the stand. Both the BBQ and Buffalo style were very good. The portion sizes were very generous and I think this would make a good meal, or again, a good snack to share with friends.

Deep Fried Bacon Strips- $7.50
The name says it all. Deep. Fried. Bacon Strips.
John: Pretty hard to describe these. If you are in for something unique, try this snack. I don’t think I would eat an entire serving of these all by myself, but it would be fun to share as a group. Although, it is pretty hard to stop snacking on these.
Cait: ”Those are addicting,” Chef John warned us, as we dove into the basket of bacon strips. Yes, I can see what he means. It’s got the salty bacon-y taste, wrapped in a soft deep-fried outer shell. And the portion size here is also very generous, so once again, a good item to get with a group of friends, just to try something new.

Where To Satisfy Your Craving: All of these items can be found at 1st Base Fry Bar, located in the right-field corner on the Field Level (near the Associated Bank Kids Zone). This stand also features a couple of the speciality french fries we featured last year, The Montreal and the Garlic Fries, as well as a variety of beverages. Note: If fried foods aren’t your thing, ham, turkey and veggie deli wraps are also available for just $6.50 at this stand as well!
Chef John also wanted us to try the Frozen Cocktails at the adjacent stand. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it! Plus, all that deep fried fare was making us thirsty…
Frozen Cocktails -$9.50
Strawberry, Blue Raspberry and Regular are the margarita flavors offered at the Frozen Cocktails stand, along with a special flavor that will change throughout the season. Today’s flavor was mango (pictured above, left).
John: I’m really not a huge fan of the sugary frozen drinks, but these cocktails were both pretty refreshing–perfect for washing down some salty fried food. They both tasted like fruit smoothies, which could get a little dangerous. Drink responsibly! (Side note: I love the souvenir mug with the Barrel Man logo!)
Cait: Forget 5 o’clock. It’s game time and these frozen cocktails are delicious! They’ll instantly make you feel like you’re on vacation somewhere tropical. Very refreshing and a great choice during a hot summer day game!
