Brewers Community Foundation Week Begins August 15, Ultimate Auction Begins Tomorrow

Brewers Community Foundation (BCF) Week begins Thursday, August 15 and features a week packed full of activities at Miller Park and around town to highlight the Foundation’s charitable impact in the community.  There really is something for everyone throughout this celebration of community.

BCF’s focused areas of interest are Health, Education, Recreation and Basic Needs with the activities throughout the week raising funds to support causes in the four areas.

BCF Week and the BCF Week Ultimate Auction are presented by The 2013 Leadership Council which is comprised of BMO Harris Bank, Delta Dental, Delzer Lithograph, Kapco, MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, Wisconsin Energy Foundation and West Bend Mutual.

One of the highlights of BCF Week is the “Ultimate Auction” which begins on Brewers.com tomorrow and will continue until August 20.  Fans will have the opportunity to bid on and win one-of-a-kind memorabilia items and unique experiences.  Fifteen exclusive packages will be available, including the opportunity to have a “Player-for-a-Day” experience at 2014 Spring Training, Mark Attanasio’s five front row seats next to the Brewers dugout for a game, and an all-expense trip to the Brewers Fantasy Camp.

Besides the online auction, fans can take part in BCF Week activities at the ballpark beginning with the next homestand that begins on August 15.  Every day of that homestand will host a different event or activity that can be found at the BCF Week tables on the Field Level concourse near Guest Relations (outside section 116).  With the current $10 voucher program going on at Miller Park for Brewers home games, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of special offers and fun activities.  Here is a rundown of BCF Week events and activities:

Thursday, August 15 – Autograph Alley

Fans will have the opportunity to take a photograph with various Brewers alumni starting when the gates open until 7:45 pm. Photos will be available for $10 per person at the BCF Week tables on the Field Level concourse next to Guest Relations (outside section 116). Fans will need to provide their own camera for their photos. The schedule of alumni is to be determined.   We will post them to the blog as they are announced.

KaBoom Playground Build

On August 15, Brewers players and wives, staff and alumni along with people in the community will help KaBoom organizers in building a new playground on the grounds of the YMCA on 12th and North Avenue. KaBoom Playground Build is part of Beyond the Diamond which is a series of community outreach events that will take place during the season from May-August.  These events involve partnering with Brewers Community Foundation, players/coaches, Brewers Wives, alumni and team staff, working hands-on in the community. The community events will be funded in part by Brewers Community Foundation and focus on the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.

I participated in one of these KaBoom Playground projects a few years ago in Dallas and I had a blast.  It was amazing to see how fast a vacant lot was transformed into a new playground.  I cannot wait to take part this year.

Friday, August 16 – BCF Carnival

Fans will have a chance to play Plinko, Brewers Prize Wheel and Bags for prizes at the BCF Week tables on the Field Level concourse next to Guest Relations (outside section 116). Prizes will include Brewers game tickets, bobble heads, hats, pins and authenticated Brewers Locker Name Plates.

Mark Attanasio and Brewers Community Foundation Launch 2013 Leadership Council

Milwaukee Brewers fans, players, coaches and other supporters enthusiastically participate in season-long fundraisers that generate needed resources. Seizing the opportunity to build on the success of Brewers Community Foundation, Brewers Chairman and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio and Brewers Community Foundation have launched the 2013 Leadership Council.

“We are honored to have eight prominent businesses partnering with our organization on meaningful philanthropic efforts,” said Attanasio.  “Our 2013 Inaugural Leadership Council is a perfect example of teamwork and collaboration.  We hope that the Council generates opportunities to expand the impact we have on the community we all care deeply about.”

The 2013 Leadership Council includes:  BMO Harris Bank, Delta Dental, Delzer Printing, Kapco, MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual, West Bend Mutual and Wisconsin Energy Foundation. Each of these organizations has a long history of meaningful engagement with the community.

The 2013 Leadership Council will join Brewers Community Foundation in the sponsorship of six key events which benefit nonprofit organizations in Greater Milwaukee.  These events include:

  • Three “Drive for Charity” events at Miller Park (April 19-21, June 21-23 and August 30-September 1)
  • 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk, July 20
  • Brewers Community Foundation Ultimate Auction, August 6-20
  • Brewers Community Foundation Week, August 15-21

“This collective effort will create new opportunities to increase the magnitude of our initiatives,” said Cecelia Gore, Executive Director of Brewers Community Foundation.  “Our Leadership Council assures a winning season for our community.”

Over the past three seasons, Brewers Community Foundation has successfully raised close to $10 million in support of quality nonprofit organizations that focus on health, education, recreation and basic needs. These efforts have resulted in the organization playing a meaningful role in the overall community effort to improve the quality of life in Milwaukee and support efforts to address critical needs.
