Brewers Announce Surprise September Call-Up; Comedic Relief Pitcher Tim Dillard to Join Brewers Social Media Team Tomorrow
Today we announced a late addition call-up to the team’s roster of talent. In an unprecedented move, relief pitcher and semi-amateur comedian Tim Dillard will join the organization tomorrow as a member of the Brewers social media team. The announcement was made by Brewers General Manager David Stearns.
“Everyone in my position looks for the five-tool player, but on rare occasions you find a guy who brings something just a little different to the table,” Stearns said. “There’s no doubt that Tim has a skill set that you won’t find anywhere else. He has been part of the Brewers family for many years, and has kept everyone laughing since day one.”
Dillard will join the Crew just in time for the team’s final six home games of the season. The right-handed pitcher has spent parts of 14 seasons with the organization, including over 70 appearances with the Major League club from 2008 to 2012. He spent the 2016 season with the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate, Colorado Springs. In between relief outings with the Sky Sox, Dillard has become the organization’s comedic relief specialist. He created unique content such as his Dubsmash videos – short-films involving his teammates lip-syncing everything from pop songs to movies to notorious commercials. Over the last few months, Dillard developed a new show – mIlb Network, where he interviewed teammates about everything from rain delays to their pre-game rituals.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Brewers social media team,” said Dillard. “I worked hard and pitched well in relief all season. And, while this might not be the exact opportunity I was seeking, it still allows me to throw a few ‘curveballs’ in September. I’m a pitcher first, but there’s nothing wrong with having a little clubhouse fun. I never thought my antics would catch the attention of a media scout.”

In his temporary, non-pitching role, Dillard will use the skills he has honed in the minor leagues to help the big league club’s social media team. The right-handed pitcher will create content featuring players, coaches and fans. He will span all forms of social media including, but not limited to, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram Takeovers; Facebook Live Videos, and even a Reddit AMA.
Fans can follow along with the fun using the hashtag #BrewersLastCallUp and by checking out Dillard’s social media pages (@DimTillard on Twitter and Instagram) along with the Brewers official social media handles (@Brewers on Twitter and Instagram, Brewers on Snapchat, and Facebook.com/Brewers).
