Carter and Murphy Visit with Brewers Season Seat Holders
Today was the Brewers Season Seat Holder luncheon, the first of two such events this season where Season Seat Holders with packages of 20+ games have the opportunity to attend.
The event, which took place in the Skyy Lounge, included a plated lunch, a Q &A with Brewers players, and the opportunity to win prizes.
Today, Season Seat Holders were treated to a Q & A with Brewers first baseman Chris Carter and Bench Coach Pat Murphy, hosted by Brewers radio broadcaster Jeff Levering.
Murphy kicked things off by explaining how Chris Carter earned the nickname “Sleepy” or “The Big Sleep.”
“Before we get started I’m going to tell the Sleepy story. There’s not really a story. Here’s the deal. You guys watch most of the games, right? This guy’s pulse rate is about 19. So in Spring Training, we kind of started calling him Sleepy. ‘Hey Sleepy,’ ‘Big Sleep.’ So now my dream is–I see how you guys are unbelievable fans and I see the way you guys support Luc when he goes to the plate (Luuuuuuuuuuccc!)….Hitting right after Luuuuuuuucccc is Sleepy, so what we do is ‘Sleeeeeeeeep-y!’…we get the whole crowd doing it,….that would be great!” Murphy said.
Here, Murphy demonstrates the cheer that he hopes will take off among fans.
The conversation was then opened to up to questions which ranged from “What was going through your mind when you hit those home runs against Oakland last night?” (“They shouldn’t have traded me!”) to talking about Murphy’s relationship to Craig Counsell as his former coach and how Murphy once broke Counsell’s nose.

Thanks to those who came out today, fun was had by all.
