Brett Phillips Surprises Fans During Spring Training Game
During yesterday’s game, I decided to give away some T-Shirts via our Twitter and Snapchat accounts.
I was simply going to send out a tweet asking fans to come find me to get a free Brewers shirt. I’ve been doing it with caps the last couple of days and it’s worked out really well.
As I was walking by with my stack of t-shirts, Brewers prospect Brett Phillips stopped me and said, “Hey what are you doing with those shirts?” I explained it to him. He thought it was cool. And then he said, “Can I come help?”
I must admit this took me aback a little because usually I’m the one asking the players to help us with our social media efforts; it’s not always the other way around.
Not one to refuse help, I let Brett, who was not playing in the game and was wearing his street clothes, come tag along.
We sent this out and then hung back and waited.
If you tweet it, they will come… soon enough, fans came over to claim the shirts and which point they were surprised to find that not only did they get a free shirt, but they also got to meet Brett Phillips, one of our top prospects and the “kid with the crazy laugh.”
But Brett didn’t stop there. He decided to have a little fun with the fans…. Check it out (if you’re on mobile, click on the MLB Network logo to watch!):
Hilarious! Thanks for all your help, Brett! We had a blast and while it would be nice to be able to bring you with me to every game, I’m really looking forward to seeing you tear it up on the field soon!
