Just Over Two Weeks Until the #BrewersMini! How’s Your Fundraising Going?
The fourth annual Brewers Mini-Marathon and 10K, presented by Sendik’s is just around the corner on Saturday, September 26. There’s still time to get in your final training runs AND raise money for an important cause.
During the first three years of the Brewers Mini-Marathon and 10K, race participants have helped to raise over $215,000 with all fundraising proceeds benefiting the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc.) and childhood cancer research in Wisconsin.
For over 35 years, the MACC Fund has raised over $41 million for childhood cancer and related blood disorder research. It is a cause that has touched many lives, most likely someone you may know.
The MACC Fund works with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. In addition, the MACC Fund also sponsors research centers in Madison and Milwaukee.
The Brewers have teamed up with the MACC Fund to raise money for their cause. The race is a great way to shed some light on how important the MACC Fund is to childhood cancer research.
Fundraising for the MACC Fund is supported by Brewers Community Foundation and runners. Participants can create their own fundraising page at BrewersMini.com and submit online donations.
If you’re running the race and have already started fundraising, that’s great! Please know your support and efforts are much appreciated. We’d also like to hear from you–what’s been working? Have you tried campaign emails or letters? How about a fundraising party, teaming up with others, or getting creative? Garage sales, bake sales and car washes are some easy and fun ideas to help boost your total.
And because incentives are helpful not only in racing, but also in fundraising, Brewers Enterprises has some great ones to keep you motivated!
Individual fundraisers will have their name entered in a raffle for the chance to win great prizes. The top three fundraising groups will win a special prize.
This year, we have another exclusive fundraising incentive for registered runners who raise at least $40 for the MACC Fund. They will receive a limited edition Brewers Mini-Marathon and 10K running cap. The navy blue performance cap features the Brewers Mini and 10K logo on the front and the MACC Fund logo on the side. Runners who qualify for the cap will be notified this month and will be able to pick up their running caps at Packet Pick-Up on Thursday or Friday, September 24 and 25, in the Miller Park SKYY Lounge.
Last year a combined 7,200 runners, representing 39 states and six countries, participated in the Mini-Marathon (13.1 miles) and the 10K race (6.214 miles). The races both begin and end at beautiful Miller Park with unique courses that take participants past Milwaukee landmarks including the Miller Valley and the Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes). It also gives participants the opportunity to run inside Miller Park on the field warning track.
All participants will receive a free Brewers ticket voucher good for select games at Miller Park in April or May of 2016, a participant medal and a “tech” shirt. A post-race tailgate party at Miller Park with live music will also take place. Prizes for the top finishers will be awarded.
The cost for the Mini-Marathon and 10K, respectively, is $85/$65 for those registering online through September 20 and $100/$80 for those registering on packet pick-up day (if space is available). Packet pick-up will take place at Miller Park on September 24 and 25.
