Brewers Community Achievers: Patrick Mickelsen
The Brewers Community Achievers Program recognizes residents throughout the state of Wisconsin each month during the season for displaying extraordinary efforts in their community.
This month’s honoree is Patrick Mickelsen. Patrick was recognized on the field prior to tonight’s Brewers vs. Giants game at Miller Park and also threw out a first pitch:
In 1978, Patrick received a fresh turkey from his place of employment. He considered himself to be pretty blessed so he wanted to help those less fortunate, so he decided to donate the turkey. He encouraged some of his friends and co-workers to do the same. After a great response, The Turkey Club was born. The Turkey Club was founded for the sole purpose of providing turkeys to families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. All turkeys collected are donated to food pantries and meal programs in Milwaukee, Washington, Jefferson and Waukesha counties. The Turkey Club hosts a number of fundraising activities to help purchase turkeys. Patrick, the founder and president of The Turkey Club have put in a great deal of time and support for the past 36 years. Because of his commitment and dedication to families in need are able to have a bountiful dinner.
Thank you, Patrick!
