Happy Mother’s Day: Lots of Pink at the Park Today!

Mother’s Day is always a special day at the ballpark; there are a lot of festivities going on to celebrate the special women in our lives.

First, we’ve got a few special Mother’s Day e-cards that you can share:

All those who came out to celebrate with us today got a special All-Fan Giveaway, a BobbleHank donning a pink bandana:

We’re also celebrating  with plenty of pink, as part of the “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” program, which was started by Major League Baseball in 2006.

Some of the players will use pink bats made by Louisville Slugger, the Official Bat of Major League Baseball, stamped with the MLB breast cancer awareness logo. Game-used Louisville Slugger pink bats from Mother’s Day games that have been authenticated by MLB will be auctioned exclusively on MLB.com to benefit the fight against breast cancer.

Today, we’re also using pink-stitched Rawlings baseballs. the pink ribbon is appearing on the bases at each ballpark, the official dugout lineup cards are pink and the players are wearing pink wristbands, plus a variety of other pink accessories.

Pink ribbon decals for breast cancer awareness are also being worn by all on-field personnel.

Many of the players took to social media to wish their moms a Happy Mother’s Day:

and I had also collected a few photos of some of the guys and their moms to share on our social media platforms:

In addition, we welcomed 2015 Honorary Bat Girl Winner, Johanna Kretschmer.

The Honorary Bat Girl program celebrates those who have been affected by breast cancer and who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate a commitment to fight this disease. Johanna is a two-time survivor of the disease and we were happy to have her out here today to throw out the first pitch.
