2014 Robin Yount Performance Awards Presented
Tonight, we honored Jimmy Nelson and Clint Coulter, recipients of the 2014 Robin Yount Performance Awards given to the Brewers Minor League Pitcher and Player of the Year.
Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke presented the awards to the athletes prior to tonight’s game.
The 2014 Minor League Pitcher of the Year is Jimmy Nelson. Jimmy spent the 2014 Season with the AAA Nashville Sounds. He posted a 10-2 record there with a 1.46 ERA in 16 starts. Opposing batters hit just .179 against him, the lowest of any starting pitcher in the league. He was named Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Month in May and June and was the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year.
The 2014 Minor League Player of the Year is Clint Coulter. Clint spent the 2014 season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. In 2014, Coulter ranked among the league leaders in several offensive categories. He finished tenth in the Midwest League batting with .287 average, ranked first with 22 home runs, second in RBI with 89, first in on-base percentage at .410, second in slugging percentage at .520, fourth in runs scored with 84, third in walks drawn with 73, and fifth in extra-base hits with 53. Clint was also named to the Midwest Leagues’ Post-Season All-Star Team.
We also recognized area scout Shawn Whalen, responsible for signing Clint.
