Brewers Community Achievers: Lila Haile

The Brewers Community Achievers Program presented by AllState recognizes residents throughout the state of Wisconsin each month during the season for displaying extraordinary efforts in their community.

All adults and school-aged children throughout the state of Wisconsin are eligible to participate in the program. Fans can nominate their Community Achiever online or pick up a nomination form at the Guest Relations Booth on the Field Level Concourse at Miller Park during the season.

This month’s honoree was recognized on the field prior to tonight’s Brewers vs. Marlins game at Miller Park.

This month’s honoree is Lia Haile.

Lila Haile

At age 10, Lia started Lia’s Hopeful Hearts Club, to help host birthday parties and special events for the kids and families at Hope House, a homeless shelter in Manitowoc. In her first week, Lia recruited three elementary school friends to join her Club.

Over the last 18 months, Lia’s Club has grown to over 600 members. Everyone is welcome to join, but must commit to one hour of their time per year to help with Lia’s Hopeful Hearts parties, projects, events and donation drives. Lia’s Club has sponsored numerous baby showers, food drives, birthday parties, ice cream socials and family movie and game nights. The Club also makes “Welcome Home Bags” for every child who first enters the door at the homeless shelter. The bags contain hygienic products, night lights for the toddlers and diapers and wipes for the infants. On top of her annual book drive and back-to-school items drive, Lia gives speeches to local schools and churches to raise awareness of homelessness in her community. Lia has touched the lives of hundreds of homeless individuals in the last 18 months. She has created more than a Club, she has initiated and established a way to bring joy and hope to the homeless families in Manitowoc.
