Brewers Community Achievers: Harry Sweda

The Brewers Community Achievers Program presented by AllState recognizes residents throughout the state of Wisconsin each month during the season for displaying extraordinary efforts in their community.

All adults and school-aged children throughout the state of Wisconsin are eligible to participate in the program. Fans can nominate their Community Achiever online or pick up a nomination form at the Guest Relations Booth on the Field Level Concourse at Miller Park during the season.

This month’s honoree was recognized on the field prior to tonight’s Brewers vs. Pirates  game at Miller Park.

This month’s honoree is Harry Sweda.

Harry Sweda

Harry is an 81-year-old young resident of Lublin, WI and has lived there his entire life, balancing the demands of a family, a career and the commitment to his community. After retiring as a public school teacher and administrator for the Gilman School District, Harry served 15 years as a school board member.  He spent 35 years volunteering as a Dept. of National Resources Instructor, teaching hunter safety, ATV safety and snowmobile safety classes. He spent 52 years as a registered official with the WIAA serving as an umpire for high school and softball games. He is also one of the founding members of the Lublin Park & Pavilion Committee.

Harry has created a legacy of volunteerism that will outlive him. He taught his children that service and volunteerism is truly given when it is most needed not when it is most convenient or easy.  Thanks Harry for being a lifelong volunteer in your community.
