Derek’s Day at Miller Park
Brandee and Steve Lendosky‘s son Derek passed away in an accident on August 4, 2013, just three days before his 10th birthday; this was a tremendous tragedy, but they have chosen to turn the experience into a way to both honor Derek’s life and spread his kindness to people they meet.
Random Acts Of Kindness (with no recognition needed) began happening in some of the most creative, inspiring and touching ways imaginable, spreading the message to “Do it 4 Derek” and think of others first.
And today is Derek’s Day at Miller Park.
Steve threw out the ceremonial First Pitch in Derek’s honor prior to the Brewers vs. Blue Jays game and Steve and his family, along with close to 500 others are at today’s game, performing random acts of kindness:
They’re here sporting bright green “Do it 4 Derek” tees and handing out $1000 in concession money and 16 signed baseballs (provided by the Brewers Community Relations department) to random fans.
If you are/were approached by someone in the group, there is no catch. They simply as that you visit their website to learn more (there you can view the Random Acts of Kindness Map and add to it) and, most importantly, that you pay it forward.
