Cowabunga! Carlos Gomez Receives Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Jersey
In case you missed it, last homestand Carlos Gomez mascot-bombed Mark Reynolds’ Intentional Talk interview wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costume.
Carlos had purchased the costume to surprise his son, who is a big fan of the Turtles. The MLB Network clip instantly became a viral hit, so when I came across this on Twitter shortly thereafter, I knew I had to get one for Carlos:
I reached out to Ryan Young, Media Relations Coordinator for the Grizzlies, who had seen the clip, and I received this by the end of the week.
On Saturday, the Grizzlies (who happen to be the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, who open a 3-game set against us at Miller Park tonight) sported these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed jerseys during their game. They also had an appearance by the Turtles, gave away pizza at the game, and their mascot dressed up as Splinter.
A special thanks to Ryan and the Grizzlies for sending us the jersey for Carlos- it definitely brought a smile to his face!
And kudos to the Minor League teams for coming up with such creative jerseys! This is the second time this season I’ve had to wrangle up a special jersey for one of our players, the first being a Fresh Prince of Bel Air jersey for our own Will Smith.
