Brewers Community Achievers: Shanna Reid
The Brewers Community Achievers Program presented by AllState recognizes residents throughout the state of Wisconsin each month during the season for displaying extraordinary efforts in their community.
All adults and school-aged children throughout the state of Wisconsin are eligible to participate in the program. Fans can nominate their Community Achiever online or pick up a nomination form at the Guest Relations Booth on the Field Level Concourse at Miller Park during the season.
The third honoree of 2014, Shanna Reid, was recognized on the field prior to tonight’s Brewers vs. Rockies game at Miller Park.
When Shanna was a young girl, her father instilled in her and her siblings the importance of education and giving back to those in need. After her father’s passing, Shanna started One Accord Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to youth who are aging out of foster care and group homes and who are attending college. In 2012, in honor of her father, who believed all young people should have the opportunity to pursue a college education, particularly those who show great promise but are unable to afford it, Shanna created the Tommie L. Reid Scholarship Fund. The money raised from One Accord Foundation’s annual Golf Outing and Fish Fry Events; to date, four students have been awarded scholarships to assist them with their basic needs for college.
Thank you, Shanna, for your commitment to the youth in Wisconsin who are pursuing a college education.
