Red Carpet Rolled Out For Hank’s Arrival in Wisconsin
Hank is officially a resident of Wisconsin.
It was quite a scene at Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport this evening as dignitaries, media and friends were all on hand to welcome Hank to his new home. Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Anne Reed, President & CEO of the Wisconsin Humane Society were on hand to give an official welcome.
The Southwest Airlines charter plane from Phoenix that carried Hank was full of Brewers sponsors and employees landed around 6:25 p.m. The media lined up for the first shot of Hank and those on hand clapped and cheered as Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger walked Hank up the jetway to the gate. Hank and the dignitaries did a number of interviews for the media before heading home.
As Hank and the group proceeded from the gate to the main concourse at the airport, everyone was greeted with another surprise. Several hundred people were gathered behind the security checkpoints to greet Hank. Fans of all types had their cameras ready and cheered as Hank came up and greeted the public. The city has really caught on to Hank and that was clear by the crowd on hand at the airport tonight.
The public will get a chance to meet Hank at Miller Park on Tuesday when the official Hank shirts and other items go on sale at the Brewers Team Store by Majestic. The gear will go on sale at Miller Park at 7 a.m. and fans will be permitted to line up beginning at 6 a.m. that day. There will be a limit of four t-shirts per person (no limits on other items). Hank will make his first Wisconsin public appearance at the Brewers Team Store by Majestic from about 7 – 8 a.m. on Tuesday for fans who purchased the shirts to get a photo with the “ballpark pup.”
