Partnership Between Brewers and HOPSports, Inc. Moves Wisconsin Students to Better Health

The Milwaukee Brewers and HOPSports, Inc., a global health and wellness network, will be implementing HOPSports Brain Breaks® as an extension of the Brewers Home Run Fitness program to help Wisconsin students become more physically active and engaged throughout the school day.

Thirty-five percent of Milwaukee high school students are considered overweight or obese, and we’ve pledged to take preventative and sustainable measures by targeting elementary students to promote healthy choices and behaviors.

In an effort to create healthy school cultures, we’ve gifted 500 Wisconsin teachers HOPSports Brain Breaks®,  a technology-based educational solution which uses existing classroom space and technology to make physical activity in schools both interactive and fun. Elementary schools in Milwaukee, Waukesha, and West Allis are currently implementing HOPSports Brain Breaks® for the 2013-14 school year.

The “Brewers Brain Breaks” feature Bernie Brewer, helping Wisconsin students ready their bodies and brains for learning with 3-5 minute web-based digital content. Teachers are able to incorporate classroom lesson plans in HOPSports Brain Breaks® so that students continue to learn while being physically active.

“My students and I do Brain Breaks every day after the kids come back in the classroom after lunch recess,” said Laurie Probst of Waukesha STEM Academy-Randall Campus.  “Brain breaks are highly motivating and get the kids centered and ready to tackle the afternoon’s work. The students enjoy the variety of videos and fun activities, and I see a lot of concentration and fun happening!”

The Brewers Home Run Fitness, program powered by HOPSports, follows the Coordinated School Health model recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a strategy for improving student health and well-being in support of academic success. The HOPSports digital platform delivers key community wellness messaging directly to kids, and strengthens community partnerships to magnify the impact of a coordinated, community approach to school health.

On Wednesday, April 2, we’re turning Miller Park into Wisconsin’s largest classroom–again!

It’s the 6th annual Weather Day and students and teachers agree, Miller Park is the perfect atmosphere for a field trip!

Once again, the Brewers are teaming up with TODAY’S TMJ4 to create an exciting event that will give students an educational and fun-filled day at the ballpark.

Students will enjoy a special lesson on the science of weather from the Storm Team 4 Meteorologists and take part in an interactive Science Fair featuring Discovery World, Milwaukee Public Museum, Mitchell Park Domes, STEP Program presented by Ready Wisconsin, and TODAY’S TMJ4—all before settling in to watch the Brewers take on the Atlanta Braves.

Brewers Marketing Department Implores Lapsed Season Seat Holders to “Fall in Glove” This Season

The Brewers marketing department has come up with a fun, unique (and topical) campaign to help entice lapsed Brewers Season Seat Holders to renew their tickets for the 2014 season.

Last week, just in time for Valentine’s Day, select accounts received a small package containing a special gold baseball, along with a card from Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez, tying in to Valentine’s Day and playing upon Carlos’ Gold Glove winning season in 2013.

So far, the response has been great.

Follow @Brewers For Your “Early Bird” Ticket Opportunity!

Sometimes, it’s good to be a follower.

As in, on Friday, February 28, from 12-5pm CT when followers of the @Brewers Twitter Account will have the chance to purchase individual game tickets before they go on sale to the general public on Saturday, March 1 in conjunction with the Brewers Arctic Tailgate event.

Here’s how it works–if you don’t already follow us on Twitter, click here and follow @Brewers. (Not on Twitter? No worries–it’s free and now is the perfect time to sign up! Just don’t blame me when you find yourself addicted to the service. #ILoveTwitter)

Then, just watch our account. Along with all of the news, insider updates and information that we normally share on Twitter, we’ll be tweeting out a special link and password that you’ll need to be able to take advantage of this special pre-sale opportunity.

Once you receive the link/password, you’ll be able to log in on Friday, February 28 from 12pm to 5pm CT, where you’ll have the chance to purchase individual game tickets to 80 home games (sorry guys, no Opening Day through this presale) before the general public gets their shot on Saturday morning. There will be an eight (8) ticket limit per game for this online sale.

So what you need to do between now and February 28:

Brewers “Beyond the Diamond” Community Initiative Returns in 2014

Today, we announced the return of the organization’s community initiative called “Beyond the Diamond, which features a series of community outreach events that will take place throughout the season. The program is built around a partnership between Brewers players, coaches, alumni, Brewers Wives and team personnel working hands-on in the community.  The community events are funded in part by Brewers Community Foundation and focus on the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.

“Beyond the Diamond” events this year will include “S.C.O.R.E. for Excellence Day,” hospital visits, a military luncheon, playground build, Habitat for Humanity project, and more.  Each month from May through August, players, coaches and team personnel will be divided into groups to attend one of the following community outreach events:

  • May 14 (Basic Needs) Habitat Build-a-thon: Brewers players, staff, alumni and Brewers Wives will assist organizers from Habitat for Humanity and residents of the local community to build a home. The event is sponsored by Brewers Community Foundation.
  • May 28 (Education) S.C.O.R.E. for Excellence Day: Brewers players and alumni will visit a middle school and deliver the important message of S.C.O.R.E.  T-shirts and game tickets will be given to the selected school.  S.C.O.R.E., an acronym for School, Community, Opportunities, Role Models and Excellence, is the Brewers signature character education program.
  • June 24 (Recreation) KaBoom Playground Build: Brewers Wives, staff and alumni will assist organizers from KaBoom and residents of the local community to build a new playground at a site to be determined.  Brewers players will also attend the ribbon cutting ceremony, thank the volunteers and take group photos with volunteers and supporters.  The playground build will be sponsored by players, Brewers Wives and Brewers Community Foundation
  • July 11 (Basic Needs) Guest House Room Renovation: Brewers Community Foundation, Brewers players, Brewers Wives and staff will partner with the Guest House, a homeless shelter for men, to build a rainwater collection and picnic shelter for the City Cream Garden Project.
  • July 26 (Recreation) RBI Tournament Visit: Players will visit the central leagues during their tournament and interact with them.  Youth players will take part in a Major League Moment (joining Brewers players on the field) prior to the game and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
  • August 8 (Education) Wisconsin Humane Society PAL Graduation: Players and Brewers Wives will participate in The Humane Society’s People and Animals Learning (PAL) Graduation.  PAL is a two-week summer camp for underserved Milwaukee children, ages 10-13.  The kids are paired up to train a shelter dog for two weeks, along with other confidence-building and violence prevention activities.  At the graduation, kids show off their new dog-handling skills and receive diplomas.  Players will assist in handing out the diplomas during the graduation ceremony.
  • August 22 (Health) Military Luncheon: Brewers players and alumni will have an exclusive lunch with troops and their families at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center.  Each military branch will be represented.

Some of the players have signed Valentine’s Day cards–the only problem is that some of their signatures might be a bit hard to decipher, save for the most savviest of fans.

Fans will have then have the opportunity to win signed Valentine’s Day cards via Facebook and Twitter.*

Looking for a Few Good Brewers Fandidates for the MLB Fan Cave in 2014

In case you haven’t heard, the popular MLB Fan Cave will be coming back for fourth season in 2014 and once again we’re looking for some excellent “fandidates” to represent the Brewers in the Cave!

This past season, the MLB Fan Cave hosted a plethora of fan events, concerts, MLB player and celebrity appearances, as well as the  Cave Dwellers who attempted to watch every game of the 2013 MLB season while chronicling their experiences online through videos, blogs and social media.

Last year, we had two Brewers fans in the running, with one cracking the top 30. And, as in the past few seasons, MLB will once again be selecting multiple fans to live the dream baseball experience inside the MLB Fan Cave while watching all 2,430 games and interacting with current and retired baseball greats, popular recording artists and entertainers and we’d love to have a Brewers fan in the mix!

Brewers 4-Packs Return Friday for Limited Time Only at Brewers.com

For a limited time only (and just in time for Valentine’s Day!), Brewers 4-Packs are returning. The 4-Packs, which are available for purchase online only at Brewers.com/4packs, go on sale this Friday, February 14, beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The sale will continue through Friday, February 21.

With the purchase of Brewers 4-Packs, fans can guarantee seat locations for some of the most popular games of the season prior to the sale of individual tickets to the general public, which begins on Saturday, March 1 at 9 a.m. during the Arctic Tailgate.

Fans can choose from five different 4-Pack options. Three of the five plans – the Matinee Plan, the Rivals Plan and the Weekend Plan – include one All-Fan Giveaway Date, while the Double Bobble Plan includes two All-Fan Giveaway Dates (listed below). The Fan’s Choice Plan allows fans to select four games of their choice from an assortment of 34 games.

The 4-Packs range in price from $72 – $168 and are available in the Field Outfield Box, Loge Infield Box, Club Outfield Box, Terrace Box, Loge Bleachers and Terrace Reserved seat locations. All tickets are subject to availability while supplies last.  Pricing is as follows and includes one ticket to four games:

2014 Brewers Promotional Schedule Released

Today, we announced the promotional schedule for the 2014 season. 

As you already know, this schedule is highlighted by the #Brewers14in14, 14 All-Fan Giveaways planned for the 2014 season, including eight bobbleheads and six T-shirt Fridays.  Additional information about this year’s All-Fan Giveaways is available at brewers.com/allfans.

In addition to the #Brewers14in14, we’ve got more in store for you, starting on Opening Day – Monday, March 31 vs. the Atlanta Braves – when all fans in attendance will receive a Brewers magnetic schedule.  The 6th Annual Weather Day at Miller Park will take place during the first homestand of the season on Wednesday, April 2.  On this day, the Brewers team up with Discovery World, the Mitchell Park Domes, the Milwaukee Public Museum, Ready Wisconsin and Storm Team 4 meteorologists from TMJ4 for a day of learning, baseball and fun.

The “5-County, 5-Day Celebration” will take place from April 11-15. During this time, all residents of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha counties can purchase select tickets at a 50% savings (excluding the Miller Lite Beerpen, All-Inclusive Areas and Uecker Seats).  More great bargains are in store when the Brewers host “Spring Madness” from May 13-15, with savings of 50% on select tickets (excluding All-Inclusive Areas and Uecker Seats).  For these three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, small Pepsi products and Klement’s hot dogs will be just $1 each.

Youth players will want to be in attendance for the popular Little League Night on Monday, June 23 as the Brewers open a series against the Washington Nationals.  All Little Leaguers in uniform (registered in advance through local youth leagues) will have the opportunity to parade around the warning track in a pre-game ceremony.  Other popular dates at Miller Park include Boy Scout Night (July 21 vs. Cincinnati), Girl Scout Night (July 25 vs. New York-NL) and American Legion Day (August 10 vs. Los Angeles-NL).

The 16th Annual Brewers Community Foundation 5K Famous Racing SausagesTMRun/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, starting at 8 a.m. at the Klement’s Sausage Haus at Miller Park.  All proceeds of the Run/Walk will support the programs of Brewers Community Foundation.  For the $30 registration fee, participants receive a commemorative t-shirt, a Terrace Reserved ticket voucher good for one of eight Brewers 2014 home games, a bottle of Aquafina water, a Klement’s hot dog and a beer for participants 21 and older.  The overall top male finisher and the overall top female finisher also receive a year’s worth of Klement’s meat products.

Retro Fridays will again be designated for the first home Friday game of every month.  They include: April 11 vs. Pittsburgh, May 9 vs. New York-AL, June 13 vs. Cincinnati, July 11 vs. St. Louis, August 8 vs. Los Angeles-NL and September 5 vs. St. Louis.  Autograph Saturdays for Kids presented by U.S. Bank®, which is designated for kids 14 and under, will return on select Saturdays throughout the season.  These dates include: April 12 vs. Pittsburgh, May 10 vs. New York-AL, June 14 vs. Cincinnati, July 12 vs. St. Louis and August 9 vs. Los Angeles-NL.  Prior to these games, select Brewers players and coaches will sign autographs.

In addition, the Prairie Farms Dairy Kids Base Run will take place after Sunday home games for kids 16 and under.  Seniors will get their turn to round the bases following afternoon games on May 7 vs. Arizona, June 25 vs. Washington and July 23 vs. Cincinnati.

The annual Cerveceros Day is set for Sunday, August 10 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Additional popular promotional items throughout the season include the “Plant a Tree” program on May 7, in which 7,000 fans receive a tree seedling, compliments of the Wisconsin DNR; a MillerCoors Brewers pennant on July 12; Potawatomi Brewers umbrella on August 23, and much more.  Fan Appreciation Night will take place on Saturday, September 27.

So, mark your calendars, plot out your games and don’t forget that Brewers individual tickets go on sale on Saturday, March 1 at 9am!
