Brewers Community Foundation’s 16th Annual 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk will be held at Miller Park on Saturday, July 26, starting at 8 a.m. Registration is now available by visiting Brewers.com/5krunwalk.
The unique feature of this event is that participants actually get to test their skills against the Klement’s Famous Racing SausagesTM, who also run the course. The run will begin and end at the Klement’s Sausage Haus where the Brat, Hot Dog, Chorizo, Italian Sausage and Polish Sausage join the crowd on the course. The route also makes its way around the warning track of Miller Park.
All participants must be pre-registered and the event is expected to sell out quickly. It is recommended that those interested register early for this event.
For the $30 registration fee, participants in the Run/Walk receive a commemorative t-shirt, a Terrace Reserved ticket voucher good for one of eight Brewers 2014 home games, a bottle of Aquafina water, a Klement’s hot dog and a beer for participants 21 and older. The overall top male finisher and the overall top female finisher also receive a year’s worth of Klement’s meat products.
This year, the fundraising component returns as participants and fans are again encouraged to help raise additional funds to benefit Fisher House Wisconsin. When registering to participate, fans will also be able to set up a fundraising page to help raise funds for Fisher House Wisconsin. Please note that the Run/Walk registration fee cannot be applied toward personal fundraising levels. Fundraising incentive levels start at $100 and increase incrementally to the Grand Prize, which includes a Yovani Gallardo autographed baseball and an opportunity to throw out a first pitch. The top prize is awarded to the fundraiser who raises the most over $5,000.
Fisher House provides a “home away from home” for military and veterans’ families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Currently, veterans from 23 different states of all generations travel to the Milwaukee VA Medical Center for treatment at the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) center, while 8,000 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans receive treatment here in Milwaukee for their wounds or injuries. Veterans and their families living beyond 50 miles from the Milwaukee VA hospital are eligible to stay for free at the Fisher House if they need to overnight. The Fisher House program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and ensures that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Due to this need, the future Milwaukee home will be one of the largest built in the United States. Fisher House Wisconsin is scheduled to break ground in May 2014.
Any questions regarding the 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk or the fundraising component can be directed to Meredith Malone at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We are proud to announce the second season of the “Brewers Baseball Academy presented by Kwik Trip.” The Academy is open to youth (ages 6-14) and includes 10 separate weeklong baseball/softball camps that will be held in various cities across Wisconsin this summer. A complete schedule of camp locations and dates is listed below.
As in 2013, the camps will be conducted under the supervision of Tim Rappé, executive director of the Brewers Baseball Academy. In last year’s inaugural season, 650 participants took part in the camps.
“In 2013, we set out to create the best baseball camp in America for Wisconsin kids,” said Rappé. “Based upon the feedback from parents, our first season was a wonderful success and 2014 will be even better.”
Each camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with instruction provided by experienced youth coaches. During one of the five camp days, campers are transported by bus to Miller Park for a one-of-a-kind experience as they will be treated to a guest appearance from a current Brewers player and have their photo taken. Campers will also receive instruction from Brewers coach John Shelby.
A unique component of the Brewers Baseball Academy is that a video motion analysis of each participant will be performed. Every camper’s swing will be recorded, analyzed and shared with the player and his/her parents. In addition, all participants will take part in a baseball or softball skills competition. Each week, scores will be posted at Brewers.com/camps and upon completion of the last camp (August 18-22), the top scorers will be invited to the Champions’ Day Finals at Miller Park. Boys and girls will compete separately in appropriate grade groups.
The fee for the weeklong camp is $395 per child, which includes 30 hours of exceptional instruction, a complete Brewers uniform, four Brewers game tickets to one of three select games – compliments of Kwik Trip – and a V.I.P. day at Miller Park.
Registration is currently available at Brewers.com/camps. Registrations received prior to March 31 will receive a $25 discount. This discount may not be combined with any other discount. If registering two or more children, each child will receive a $25 discount if booked together. A limited number of spots are available for each camp location.
As the presenting sponsor of the Brewers Baseball Academy, Kwik Trip will award 240 random participants with $25 gift cards to their locations. One lucky camper from each host city will also receive a personalized camp jersey, along with a special presentation during the camp graduation ceremony.
Additional information can be found online at Brewers.com/camps. For questions, please contact Brewers Baseball Academy Executive Director Tim Rappé at Tim.Rappe@brewers.com or call (414) 939-8808.

Want to Work at Miller Park This Season? Apply for the Brew Crew or Try Out for the Diamond Dancers!
If you’re looking for a way to see Brewers Baseball for free this summer–and maybe even get paid to do it, then listen up.
I just heard from Drew Olsen, our Broadcast and Entertainment Manager, that we’re hiring for our entertainment staff and that the Diamond Dancers are hosting auditions!
First up, we’ve got openings on our Brew Crew.
Are you outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, confident, and love interacting with people? If so, we want you to join our gameday entertainment seasonal Brew Crew staff!
The Brew Crew is an integral part of the Miller Park fan experience, with job duties that directly impact our guests and their enjoyment of Brewers games. The Brew Crew also represents the Club throughout the state at mascot appearances.
As a former Brew Crew member myself, I can tell you that it is a lot of fun and a great learning experience– a perfect job for a college student!
As a member of the Brew Crew, you’ll do things such as:
• Work Klement’s Racing Sausage mascot appearances on non-gamedays
• Assist with and execute between-innings promotions
• Staff all interactive areas throughout Miller Park, including the US Cellular Power Playground, Bernie’s Terrace, and Speed Pitch
• Greet fans and snap their pictures as part of the FanFoto program
• Entertain fans before the game as the Klement’s Racing Sausages and their escorts
• Tie balloon animals for kids
• And More!
Applicants must be available to work at least 40 games, arriving 2 hours prior to gametime. Having a flexible schedule that allows for working some or all weekday day games is a plus. Please note this is NOT a full-time position, it is a part-time, seasonal position. Applicants must also live in the Milwaukee area year-round in order to be considered for the Brew Crew.
Diamond Dancer Auditions
The 2014 Diamond Dancers auditions will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Registration begins at 11 AM and the audition begins at 11:30 AM at Elite Sports Club in Brookfield, WI 600 N. Barker Road).
Please visit www.wiprodance.com for additional audition details. There, you can also register for the audition clinics and fill out your application for audition day.
So, if you’re interested in working at Miller Park this season, as either a Brew Crew member or a Diamond Dancer, make sure you check out those sites for more information.
Good luck! I hope to see you at Miller Park this year!
On Sunday, we signed free agent right-handed starter Matt Garza to a four-year contract with a vesting option for the 2018 season.
And today, we welcomed Matt with this ad in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“Matt is an established top-of-the-rotation pitcher who provides our staff with experience and quality depth,” said Melvin.
Garza, 30, is 67-67 with a 3.84 ERA in 194 games (191 starts) during eight Major League seasons with Minnesota (2006-07), Tampa Bay (2008-10), Chicago-NL (2011-13) and Texas (2013). After missing nearly the first two months of 2013 due to injury (side/back), he returned to post a 10-6 record with a 3.82 ERA in 24 starts between the Cubs (11gs) and Rangers (13gs) last season.
Garza was named 2008 American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player (2gs, 2-0, 1.38 ERA vs. Boston) and threw the first no-hitter in Tampa Bay Rays history on July 26, 2010 vs. Detroit. He is 2-1 with a 3.48 ERA in five career postseason starts (31ip, 12er).
Garza will wear uniform number 22. Outfielder Logan Schafer, who previously wore the number, will now wear number 1.

In case you missed the news today from Brewers On Deck, we, along FOX Sports Wisconsin, announced the addition of Matt Lepay to the television broadcast team.
Lepay will handle play-by-play for approximately 35 Brewers telecasts this season, filling in for Brian Anderson who will be handling national telecast work.
Lepay is a seven-time winner of the “Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year” Award, presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Since 1994, Lepay has been the voice of Wisconsin Badgers football, and he is currently in his 26thth season as the men’s basketball play-by-play announcer.
“Matt is a great fit for this role, given his passion for sports in Wisconsin and his connection to fans throughout the state,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger. “We are thrilled to bring Matt on board, and look forward to his work on Brewers telecasts throughout the season.”
Lepay joined WIBA Radio in Madison in 1994 after a stint as sports director at WTSO Radio (also in Madison).
“Matt is obviously a knowledgeable sports mind and a professional who has established a strong connection with fans across the state of Wisconsin,” said Mike Dimond, Senior Vice President and General Manager for FOX Sports Wisconsin. “I think Brewers fans will really enjoy his approach to the game. We’re excited to have him as part of our broadcast team.”
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Lepay and his wife Linda reside in Cross Plains, Wis.
“I am honored and humbled to have this opportunity to be a part of the Brewers and Fox Sports Wisconsin broadcast team,” Lepay said. “I very much admire the work of Brian, Bill, Craig and everyone associated with the telecasts, and I am eager to join them this season. The chance to call baseball is a lifelong dream, and I thank the Brewers and FOX Sports Wisconsin for helping me realize that dream.”
Lepay will continue is his current role as the radio voice for Badgers football and basketball.
Craig Coshun will return for his 14th season of covering the Brewers, and will continue in his role as the lead pre- and post-game host for FOX Sports Wisconsin. He will also handle play-by-play for select Brewers telecasts of FOX Sports Wisconsin during Spring Training and the regular season.

The Wisconsin Center was home to nearly 30 Brewers players today and a record crowd of 14,138 braved fresh snow and cold temperatures for the Club’s annual winter fanfest, Brewers On Deck Presented by Time Warner Cable.
The crowd surpassed 2012’s prior high mark of 12,118, and last year’s total of 11,722.
“We can’t thank the fans enough for coming out to warm the atmosphere downtown and helping move everyone’s thoughts toward baseball and the 2014 Brewers season,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger. “It was a great opportunity for players, coaches and staff to connect with the fans, and we look forward to seeing everyone again at Miller Park throughout the year.”
The afternoon’s highlights included an announcement that the Brewers had completed negotiations and signed free agent pitcher Matt Garza to a four-year contract. The announcement was made on the Main Entertainment Stage by Brewers Chairman and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio, who was joined by President of Baseball Operations Doug Melvin, Assistant General Manager Gord Ash, and Special Assistant to the General Manager Craig Counsell.
“That was definitely a great piece of news to break at the event, and the response from the fans was tremendous,” Schlesinger said.
Brewers pitchers and catchers report to Marvale, Ariz., for Spring Training on Feb. 15.
We asked you to submit your questions for Dennis Haskins, a celebrity guest at this year’s Brewers on Deck event, and we caught up with him today.
Watch below for a recap!
Have you ever had a fun idea for a Brewers commercial? The Milwaukee Brewers are giving aspiring marketing professionals a chance to show what they have with a new creative contest where fans can “Create a Commercial.” We announced our latest interactive contest at today’s Brewers On Deck event.
Funny, touching, serious—it doesn’t matter as long as it is awesome. Fans are invited to create and submit a storyboard with their idea at brewers.com/commercial. Entries may also be supplemented with a YouTube clip (up to 30 seconds in length) or Instagram video (up to 15 seconds in length) to further illustrate their ideas.
One winner will get the chance to direct and/or star in a spot that will play in Miller Park, on FOX Sports Wisconsin during a Brewers broadcast, and online. The winner will also receive a Brewers prize package including game tickets and a Brewers director’s chair.
“With our recent ‘Design a YOUniform’ and ‘Create a Concession’ contests, we saw how creative and engaged our fans were in offering their ideas to connect with the team,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger. “We place a very high value on opinions from our fans, and we expect a similar strong response to this initiative.”
The period for submissions opens today and will last until Friday, February 28 at brewers.com/commercial. An internal Brewers committee will review the entries and judge them from March 3 – 7. Then, from March 10 – 23, fans will be able to vote on the finalists at brewers.com/commercial. The spot will be produced at the beginning of the season. An air date is to be determined based on production schedules.
Entry form templates, complete details and official rules can be found at brewers.com/commercial. The winning commercial will be produced by the Madison-based production company, Provideo.
