Grounds Crew Already Hard at Work for 2014
Just over a week after the Crew played its last home game of the 2013 season, the field at Miller Park looks completely different.
This week, the Grounds Crew is working on replacing the surface, approximately 4″ deep.
“We’ll bring in 1000 tons of new sand, till it, compact it, grade it, and bring in new sand-based sod,” Brewers Director of Grounds, Justin Scott, said.
The sod is coming from Graff’s Turf Farm in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Graff’s supplies turf for many MLB fields, including Busch Stadium, Coors Field, and Kauffman Field among others.
The last time the Grounds Crew took on this project was in fall of 2008.
