Career Hit #2000 Is a Solo Homer For Aramis Ramirez
Congratulations to Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez who tonight recorded his 2,000th career hit with a home run off Scott Feldman. The solo homer sailed right into the Brewers bullpen where reliever Tom Gorzelanny caught it in his hat.
Ramirez, who turned 35 yesterday, is in his second season with the Brewers and has played in the Big Leagues with Pittsburgh and Chicago-NL. He entered the season with 1,959 career hits. He recorded his 1,000th career hit on July 15, 2005 vs. New York-NL with a single off Tom Glavine. His first career hit came on June 3, 1998 and was a double off Greg McMichael.
Ramirez is also just 15 runs short of 1,000, 3 HR shy of 350 and 17 doubles away from 450 in his Major League career.
Ramirez is a two-time All-Star (2005 and 2008) and is seventh on the All-Time MLB list for home runs as a third baseman with 344.
