Double Clutch Menu for the Phillies Series: Philly Cheesesteak

You all had to know this one was coming.  The classic Philly Cheesesteak is on sale at the Double Clutch stand at Miller Park during the current four-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The sandwich features thinly sliced sirloin beef served fresh off a sizzling grill along with sautéed peppers and onions.  Provolone cheese and/or creamy cheese sauce top the sandwich which is served on a thick hoagie bun.  A side of house made Miller Park chips are on the side.  The meal is $10.

Rumor has it that Brewers bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel has been known to polish off a couple of cheesesteak sandwiches on Brewers road trips to Philadelphia.  I’m not sure on the exact count from the recent road trip (we keep track of a lot of stats, but not that stat!), but I might bring this down for him to try as he is the cheesesteak expert.  I had mine “wit out” and it was pretty good.  Since it is a four-game series, I might even have another one on Saturday!

A staple of the Double Clutch, the Spaghetti-in-a-Meatball is also available again and features a 1/2 pound beef and veal meatball stuffed with spaghetti and mozzarella cheese and topped with marinara sauce.  That is also $9.

The Double Clutch stand is on the Loge Level outside section 215 (on the first base side of the press box).

I live in the Philly area and have tried most of the big ones…Pat’s, Geno’s, Jim’s, Tony Luke’s, Campo’s etc. (Jim’s on South Street is the best.) Generally I find when institutions outside of Philly try to make a Philly cheesesteak it’s a big fail. But this looks pretty good, so I’ll take your word for it!
