First Look at “What’s New” at Miller Park for 2013

Although a lot of the news made by the Brewers recently has been in Arizona at Spring Training, let’s not forget that Opening Day in Milwaukee is now less than two weeks away.  Sure, it’s absolutely freezing in Milwaukee, but with every passing day, we know we are closer to baseball.  Three improvement projects at Miller Park that were recently completed during the off-season were officially unveiled today.  We had a firsthand look and are here to show them to you.

DEW DECK RENOVATIONS

The Dew Deck, a seating area above the right field bleachers that dates to Miller Park’s opening year, was renovated during the off-season. The signature addition to the area is a 26-foot high rock climbing wall, designed in the shape of a can of Mountain Dew.  The Famous Racing Sausages were the first to go up the wall today.

The wall will be open for about three hours every game day, and is designed to accommodate up to three climbers at a time.  I also went up the wall today and snapped some photos from the top.  It was pretty fun and would be a great addition to any group outing.  I think it will be a popular feature at the park.

Other improvements to the area will include new lighting, new ceilings, installation of flat panel televisions, repainting, and new signage.  The Dew Deck accommodates groups of 25 to 260 people (no individual ticket purchases are available).  The area features stadium seating, a private bar, and private restrooms. Tickets to this affordable party space include an all-you-can eat pregame tailgate buffet that begins when the Miller Park gates open and ends one hour after the first pitch. Individuals interested in hosting events at the new Dew Deck may call 414-902-GRPS for more information.

SKYY LOUNGE

Following the addition of a new Brewers Team Store retail site on the Club Level last year, the SKYY Lounge (formerly Home Plate Lounge) was enhanced this winter. The SKYY Lounge is located on the concourse of the Club Level behind home plate and is open to Club Level Suiteholders and all fans who have Club Level seating.

The project included the removal of an existing concessions stand, storage area and restroom, allowing for the creation of a new fixed “Chef’s Table” counter.  If you are a regular reader of our blog, you know of our love for the “Chef’s Table.”  We were able to sample some of the food items this afternoon (fuel for my climb up the rock wall) and they were delicious.  We will be back with the regular “What John and Cait Ate” features for the 2013 season, so I don’t want to give too much away about the food.  Chef John did, however, let us know that he hired a new pastry chef this year meaning there will likely be some fabulous new sweet treats available at the ballpark.

Featured upgrades include a new Concierge counter, new carpeting, and new furniture (modular seats, ottomans, barstools, dining chairs, and tables). In addition, there will be new lighting throughout the space.  The area is much more open, modern and social.

The latest in unique, All-Inclusive vantage points to take in a game was also unveiled today in the new Miller Lite Party Deck.  The Party Deck has a capacity of 70 and is situated above the Miller Park right field Loge Bleachers.  The view from up there was fascinating.  You can see the entire field and it is almost like you are hovering above the field.  People were asking today, “What was here before?”  Well, there was nothing there before, it is a completely new space that was added on this off season.  Once you see it, you will think it has been there since the ballpark opened, it really fits in.

It features 1,400 square feet of entertaining space and includes a new fixed bar, buffet counter, flat panel televisions and two levels of seating. The area is available for groups for select Brewers home games, offering an all-inclusive food and beverage experience as well as a private setting and a spectacular vantage point for viewing the game and Miller Park surroundings. Groups may reserve their space in the Miller Lite Party Deck and all group entertaining areas now. More information is available by calling the Brewers Group Sales office at 414-902-GRPS (4777) or at Brewers.com/allin.

There is a lot going on at Miller Park these days.  We are in the homestretch of the off-season and ready for April 1.  Stay tuned to the blog as we will have updates and other news leading up to Opening Day!

I see a lot of improvements to Miller Park being done to accommodate groups and those that can afford club level amenities, but I never see a lot being done for the fan that can only afford to attend one or two games a year. I’d love to be able to see in these areas, but will never be able to afford to.

No offense Barry, but the Brewers are possibly the most value-friendly team in baseball, take my word on that. They offer all sorts of packages, discounted tickets, and theme nights where you can get an awful lot for your buck. If you look around on their website there’s a ton of ways to save money, even on stuff like this if you can get a group together (which shouldn’t be too difficult in Milwaukee).
